2018: Start of the standard
In May, 2018 the Wi-fi Alliance organization announced the new EasyMesh standard which will allow to build wireless networks of mesh using the equipment from different producers. It is supposed that the technology will find wide circulation in the market as alliance often act on behalf of the large members.
Mesh Mesh-networks are distributed peer-to-peer in which all nodes are equal among themselves. All of them are more often applied to Internet access and connection of devices in the wide territory, for example, in the big private house. However the problem is that the routers and wireless access points used in such networks should be from one producer.
EasyMesh solves this problem and does mesh-routers of all brands compatible with each other, as well as normal routers. If, for example, Linksys and Netgear implement support of this technology in the equipment, then users will be able to work with access points of Netgear Orbi Outdoor and the Linksys Velop routers at the same time. It is important as to the middle of May, 2018 of Netgear is the only producer offering mesh access points for application outside buildings, however they function only together with Netgear Orbi routers, notes the PC World edition.
Wi-fi EasyMesh technologies are included by two basic components: the agents monitoring network functioning and clients and the controller on one of devices which manages traffic and distributes clients on access points for achievement of maximum capacity and efficiency.
Agents are located in access points of a mesh network, they coordinate joint work and supply the controller with operational information about functioning of network. If one access point is overloaded or the client device moved closer to other access point, the controller smoothly reassigns the client of this access point.[1]
