According to the results of 2018, the volume of the endoscopic ultrasound equipment market reached $830.6 million. More than a third of sales ($296.9 million) of this medical equipment went to North America, according to the data of the analytical company Fortune Business Insights.
Experts attribute North American leadership in the sale of ultrasound endoscopes to the high prevalence of chronic digestive disorders in the region among the age population. Well-established health systems and proactive health policies are factors that contribute to the development of the European endoscopic market. And in the Asia-Pacific region, the increase in cancer prevalence leads to an increase in demand for echo endoscopy equipment, the study said.
Fortune Business Insights considers one of the catalysts for the growth of the global endoscope market to be the increase in the prevalence of stomach cancer, from which about 783 thousand people died in 2018.
