Chronicle

2023-2024

The global market for fillers for cosmetology grew by 5.2% over the year and reached 6.3 million procedures

In 2024, 6.34 million cosmetic procedures were performed globally using hyaluronic acid fillers. This is 5.2% more than in the previous year, when the figure was 6.03 million. The demand for such services is growing steadily, as stated in the materials of the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) and Grand View Research, which TAdviser got acquainted with in early December 2025.

According to estimates, in 2024, about 5.46 million cosmetic procedures using fillers were carried out for women, another 879.52 thousand for men. The market drivers are the growing demand for minimally invasive interventions, the popularization of aesthetic medicine, as well as the emergence of new generation formulations. In addition, the aging of the population helps to increase the demand for such procedures: fillers offer a quick and effective way to correct wrinkles and improve the contours of the face (lips, cheekbones, chin).

Global Market Size for Cosmetic Fillers Increased by 5.2% over the Year

Grand View Research notes that in 2024, costs in the global hyaluronic acid filler market reached $4.47 billion. About 40% of this amount fell on the North American region. In 2025, the sector is expected to reach $4.94 billion. Analysts believe that in the future, the CAGR will be 10.5%. Thus, by 2033, filler costs on a global scale could increase to $11 billion. Major industry players named:

The global dermal filler market for skin deficiencies reached $4.97 billion over the year

In 2024, expenditures on the global dermal filler market for skin deficiencies amounted to $4.97 billion. More than a third of this amount was in the Asia-Pacific region. Such data are provided in the Fortune Business Insights review published on July 31, 2025.

Dermal fillers are used in cosmetic procedures to reduce the depth of wrinkles and skin folds. In addition, such fillers allow you to adjust the shape of certain areas of the face, including lips, areas under the eyes, whiskey, cheekbones, cheeks, nose and chin. Fillers provide minimal rehabilitation time and visible results, which contributes to their growing popularity. Many people prefer injections of these drugs to other more invasive cosmetic procedures, such as facelift. There are fillers with different properties, which allows you to take into account the individual needs of patients: the filler is selected based on the condition of the tissue of the corrected area and the expected result.

The authors of the study segment the market into fillers based on hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxyapatite, poly-L-lactic acid, polymethylmethacrylate fillers, etc. In 2024, the lion's share of revenue was provided by drugs of the first type - 75.7%. Such fillers are most natural to the body, since hyaluronic acid is one of the main components of the extracellular matrix and is found in many biological fluids (saliva, synovial fluid, etc.). The task of hyaluronic acid is to intensively moisturize the skin, ensure its elasticity, elasticity and youthful appearance. Calcium hydroxyapatite fillers are in second place in the prevalence: when administered, this drug stimulates the production of collagen, a protein that gives the skin structure and elasticity.

The growing demand for minimally invasive aesthetic procedures is driving the development of the dermal filler industry, the study said. Because traditional surgeries carry risks and require long recovery times, many patients choose alternative options. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), about 5.3 million hyaluronic acid-based procedures were performed in 2023.

Market expansion is also promoted by an aging population. In addition, there has been an increase in the popularity of aesthetic procedures among men, especially in the field of chin contouring and under-eye skin rejuvenation. Analysts call advances in the development of advanced fillers with a longer effect as another stimulating factor.

From a geographical point of view, in 2024, the Asia-Pacific region led, which accounted for 35.4% of revenue, or $1.76 billion. This is due to improved health infrastructure in Asian countries and increased awareness of the benefits of fillers. Globally, significant players are named:

In 2025, the global dermal filler market is expected to reach $5.15 billion. Fortune Business Insights forecasts a CAGR of 7% going forward. Thus, by 2032, costs may increase to $8.29 billion.[3]

The production of lip fillers in Russia increased by 13% over the year and reached 218 thousand packages

The production of fillers in Russia increased by 13% in 2024 and amounted to 218 thousand packages compared to 2023. This is evidenced by the data of the analytical company "GuideMarket," published in mid-June 2025.

The volume of the Russian filler market in value terms reached ₽9,58 billion in 2024, which is 43.7% more than in 2023 at ₽6,67 billion. Over the seven-year period from 2018 to 2024, the market increased 2.4 times - from ₽4,05 billion to ₽9,58 billion.

The production of fillers in physical terms in the period 2018-2024 has quadrupled. The increase in volumes is due to the expansion of the production capacity of brands present on the market and the emergence of new players. A significant incentive for growth was the shortage of imported drugs in 2022-2023.

The development of the market was characterized by uneven dynamics in the period under consideration. In 2019, the volume increased by 9.8% to ₽4,45 billion. The most noticeable decline occurred in 2020 - the fall was 15.3% to ₽3,77 billion due to pandemic restrictions and narrowing business activity.

Recovery growth was recorded in 2021, when the total turnover reached ₽6,02 billion with a growth rate of 59.7%. The result is due to the resumption of imports, the intensification of domestic production and the implementation of deferred demand from clinics and consumers.

In 2022, the market continued to grow by 9.1% to ₽6,56 billion. By 2023, the industry showed signs of stabilization - the growth rate decreased to 1.5% with a volume of ₽6,67 billion. Despite the slowdown, the development vector remains positive, which indicates a high adaptability of the industry to foreign economic and logistical restrictions.

The spatial structure of filler production is characterized by a high concentration in the Central Federal District. Moscow accounts for 78.2% of the total output, the Moscow region provides 16.0% of production, and the Ryazan region - 5.8% of production.[4]

The cosmetic products market shows pronounced seasonality. Sales peaks are observed in the spring months, before summer holidays and on the eve of the New Year holidays. Maximum expenses both in 2024 and a year earlier were recorded in April and December. In April 2024, consumers spent ₽2,8 billion on injectable cosmetology, acquiring 610 thousand. HONEY. Compared to April 2023, the dynamics in rubles exceeded 29%, and natural consumption increased by 16.5%.

At the end of December 2024, product costs increased to ₽3,2 billion, but the volume in MED was noticeably lower than the April values - 567 thousand units of goods. The structure of consumption in December differed from the April one: consumers more often purchased more expensive types of products. Such products include fillers, the cost of which is approximately twice as high as biorevitalizers - at the level of ₽8 thousand and ₽4 thousand, respectively.

The minimum costs for injectable cosmetology were fixed for two years in a row in January. In the first month of 2024, 387 thousand were sold. MED worth ₽1,7 billion In January 2025, sales were higher: Russians purchased 454 thousand units, spending ₽2,4 billion. The volume of the Russian market for injectable cosmetology for the year increased by 21% to ₽44 billion

The volume of the Russian market for injectable cosmetology in 2024 increased by 21% and reached ₽44 billion. Such data in March 23025 leads the analytical company "Right to Health." During this period, 8.7 million injection procedures were performed in Russia, including injections with Botox and various botulinum toxins, which is 34% more than in 2023.

According to Forbes, citing the forecast of the same analytical company, in 2025-2026, further growth of this segment is expected by 15-20% annually. In terms of the global medical cosmetology industry, the growth dynamics of the Russian market is much higher. According to Zion Market Research, the average annual growth rate worldwide until 2030 will be 4.5% annually, and the projected volume by the end of the decade will reach $72.33 billion.

The volume of the injectable cosmetology market in Russia grew by 21% over the year and reached ₽44 billion

Lyaglia Sadykova, President of the Association of Beauty Enterprises and Professionals, confirms analysts' optimistic forecasts, but points to existing risks for the industry. These include an increase in the cost of drugs and equipment due to sanctions and logistical difficulties, a possible tightening of licensing, certification and control requirements, as well as a growing personnel shortage.

According to Sadykova, the growth of the Russian market is associated with a change in the model of consumer behavior - Botox injections began to be perceived as an element of regular self-care. In addition, a new group of clients has formed who are preemptively struggling with aging.

Olga Goncharova, Executive Director of Rights to Health, calls demand stability a feature of the Russian market for cosmetic injections. However, the gray segment presents a serious problem: according to the company, in 2024, only 56% of botulin therapy services were carried out in clinics or departments of aesthetic medicine with the necessary licenses. The remaining part was accounted for by beauty salons and private offices that did not have appropriate permits. For biorevitalization and contour plastics, this figure was 54%.[7]

Lip filler sales in Russia up 20% to ₽18,5 billion

At the end of 2023, the volume of retail sales of these products reached ₽18,5 billion, which is 20% more than in 2022. Natural sales amounted to 3.9 million minimum dosage units (MED), an increase of 27% compared to 2022. This is evidenced by the data of the analytical company RNC Pharma, released in September 2024.

According to experts, for the first half of 2024, sales dynamics remain at a high level. Total retail sales reached ₽10,9 billion, up 21% from the same period in 2023. Natural sales amounted to 2.2 million MED, which also exceeds the figures of the first half of 2023, when 2 million MED was sold.

The bulk of retail sales are formed by fillers for lip augmentation and other cosmetic defects. Fillers accounted for 62.6% of all sales in value terms in 2023, according to RNC Pharma. This is due to the higher price of this product: the average cost of one filler exceeded ₽8 thousand, which is significantly higher than the average price of biorevitalizers.

Specialized clinics remain the main channel for the sale of injectable cosmetic products, providing 94.8% of all sales in the first half of 2024. The share of pharmacies continues to decline and amounted to 4.4% of total retail sales. Less than 1% of products are sold through e-com platforms, but their importance is growing: marketplaces provided 7.4% of in-kind sales, with the majority of the volume being Korean biorevitalizant.

Regional specificity also plays an important role in the market. The capital region (Moscow and the Moscow region) remains the leader: in 2023 it accounted for 35.8% of total ruble sales. In Moscow, for the entire 2023, products worth ₽3,8 billion were sold. The second place is occupied by St. Petersburg, whose residents spent more than ₽1 billion on fillers and biorevitalizers. The Moscow region showed the fastest growth: in the first half of 2024, sales in the region increased by 67%, and natural volume increased fivefold.[8]

In 2024, more than 30.5 thousand cosmetologists carry out procedures with "beauty injections" in Russia. Moreover, the most popular services were contour plastic and biorevitalization. The total number of such procedures in 2023 increased from 1.2 million to 1.3 million for contour plastic, and from 2 million to 2.6 million for biorevitalization.
