The gold medals that the guys deserved are the result of their collectivity, high motivation and the huge talent of the participants themselves and their coaches. This year, our team included not only students of graduation classes, but also tenth graders who will have the opportunity to repeat their brilliant result in the next Olympic season, - said Artem Voronov, head of the team's coaching staff, vice-rector for academic work of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

As noted in the Ministry of Education, Russian schoolchildren took part in the competition in full-time format, they demonstrated their unique skills in two rounds: solving theoretical problems and performing laboratory work.

On July 18, 2023, a congratulation from Russian President Vladimir Putin was published on the Kremlin's website:

The Olympics consisted of two rounds, which took place on July 19 and 21, 2021. At them, participants demonstrated various skills in solving theoretical and practical problems in physics. More than 450 schoolchildren from 90 countries of the world took part in the Olympics.

The IPhO International Physics Olympiad has been held since 1967. Participants up to 20 years old are allowed to join it, and up to five participants are allowed from each country. During the Olympiad, schoolchildren compete individually in two stages: first, the theoretical stage takes place, then the practical stage.

According to the Ministry of Education, the Russian team to participate in the International Physics Olympiad was traditionally formed from those who showed themselves brightest at the All-Russian Physics Olympiad for schoolchildren. The participants conducted further training at training camps on the basis MIPT of and qualification camps on the basis of the educational center Sirius"."

The Russian national physics team received 2 "gold" and 3 "silver" at the European Olympiad

On June 25, 2021, the European Olympiad among schoolchildren in physics (EuPhO) ended, following which five Russians won medals - two gold and three silver. This was reported on the official website of the competition. Awards received:

  • Daniil Zhitov (gold);
  • Timur Pryadilin (gold);
  • Angelica Buskina (silver);
  • Alexander Raskatov (silver);
  • Daniil Koblov (silver).

The European Physics Olympiad has been held since 2017 on the model of the Asian and Ibero-American Physical Olympiads. Each country at the competition can be represented by a team of no more than five schoolchildren no older than 20 years and one leader.

The Russian national physics team won 2 "gold" and 3 "silver" at the European Olympiad

In 2021, the Olympiad was held in a distributed format. The Russian national team solved the problems of theoretical and practical rounds at MIPT as at its "training base," the institute noted.

The national team in physics is traditionally trained by teachers of the laboratory for working with gifted children of MIPT. The leaders of the Russian team this time were Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of General Physics of MIPT Mikhail Osin and coach of the Russian national team in physics, head of the department for pre-university training of MIPT Vitaly Shevchenko.

According to Shevchenko, in 2021, the composition of the Russian national team was formed only following the results of the final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad of schoolchildren in physics among 11-graders.

In the final of the all-Russian, a team for the Asian Olympics has already been formed (as it turned out, the strongest). Therefore, we wanted to give the opportunity to other eleventh graders to prove themselves at the international competition. Indeed, until now, in the final class at the final stage, they fought only for admission without exams, and now, we hope, there will be an additional incentive, "he explained.[3][4]
