2023:10 of the world's largest online travel services

The American company Booking Holdings tops the global ranking of the largest online travel services. This is stated in a study by Statista, the results of which TAdviser got acquainted with at the end of February 2025.

The report says that the revenue of leading online travel agencies on a global scale in 2023 increased significantly compared to the previous year. In most cases, revenues exceeded the values observed before the COVID-19 pandemic. This indicates a rapid recovery of the industry, which has suffered greatly during the active spread of the coronavirus.

The largest revenue at the end of 2023 was shown by the Booking Holdings group - $21.37 billion. For comparison: in 2019, this figure was about $15.07 billion, and in 2022 - $17.09 billion. The company owns and operates sites such as Booking.com, Priceline.com, Agoda, Kayak, Cheapflights, Rentalcars.com, Momondo and OpenTable. In 2023, users booked 1.05 billion nights of accommodation, 74 million days of car rental and 36 million air tickets through the group's services. Booking Holdings mostly earns revenue from commissions, with advertising providing some of the revenue.

In second place in the ranking is Expedia Group, which operates Expedia, Hotels.com, Vrbo, Travelocity, Hotwire.com, Orbitz, Ebookers, CheapTickets, CarRentals.com, Expedia Cruises, Wotif, etc. In 2023, the group's revenue reached $12.84 billion against $11.67 billion a year earlier.
