The Bryansk region is part of the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation and covers an area of ​ ​ 34.9 thousand km ². The permanent population of the Bryansk region as of January 1, 2020 amounted to 1192.5 thousand people.

2024: Approving the Region's Digital Transformation Strategy

On October 1, 2024, the government of the Bryansk region announced the approval of a digital transformation strategy. It covers 11 industries and contains a total of 68 projects.

The digital transformation strategy of the Bryansk region is approved every three years: the previous document was adopted in 2021. The strategy includes six main mandatory industries: education and, science, public health care administration, urban environment development, transport and logistics, social sphere. The document of 2024 also includes additional industries related to the specifics of the region: agriculture, industry, ecology and environmental management, staffing of the digital economy, construction.

In particular, the regional project "Information Infrastructure" for the development of communication networks is being implemented. At the end of 2023, 892 socially significant objects received broadband Internet access via fiber-optic lines, including 295 schools located in small settlements of the Bryansk region. The first stage of the federal project to eliminate digital inequality has been completed: in all settlements with the number of residents from 250 to 500 people, a common Internet access point has been built - the total number of such facilities was 317. As part of the second stage of the program until 2030, it is envisaged to build cell towers in settlements with a population of 100 to 500 people. By the end of 2023, 102 base stations have been deployed.

Another regional project is Digital Public Administration. In accordance with this program, 88 services of the regional and municipal levels were transferred to electronic format. Work continues on the registration of citizens in the unified identification and authentication system (ESIA).

Under the Digital Technologies project, organizational information interaction with development institutions (the Russian Fund for the Development of Information Technologies, the Fund for the Development of Internet Initiatives, the Innovation Assistance Fund, etc.) was carried out to obtain up-to-date information on existing competitive selections, tender documentation and rules for issuing applications. In addition, the regional project "Information Security" is being implemented. [1]
