2021: Belgorod jeweler and head of the association of security companies bought "Adamas"

At the end of June 2021, it became known about the sale of Adamas. Co-owners of the jewelry retailer will be Mikhail Nesvetailo, chairman of the board of directors and owner of 33.34% of Art Carat, and Eduard Bendersky, president of the Vympel-A security companies association and the special forces veterans charity fund of the same name, ex-employee of the Vympel FSB special unit.

According to Kommersant, Nesvetailo and Bendersky buy out the asset from businessman Svyatoslav Potapov, who acquired the shares of the head legal entity "Adamas" JSC "1 jewelry chain" in the fall of 2020 from the bankrupt previous owner - LLC "Adamas-jeweler" with offshore beneficiaries. Also, as part of the deal, the new owners of the retailer will receive the Adamasa jewelry plant in Moscow.

The new owners also expect to "overcome the financial and reputational costs associated with the last years of Adamas." At the same time, they plan to bring the total number of stores to 250 by 2022.

The value of the transaction is not called. According to experts interviewed by the publication, the amount depends on the cost of the remains of jewelry in the Adamas salons and precious raw materials at its plant, as well as on the agreements of the parties regarding this property. Chief analyst of Alora Alexei Antonov estimated the amount of the transaction excluding jewelry at 300-400 million rubles only for stores and production.

The legal entity "Adamasa" in 2020 received an almost billionth loss, 2019 was also unprofitable. The Russian jewelry market has been declining by about 1-2% over the past year, retailers in some quarters noted a drop in sales by 70-80% due to the pandemic, lockdown. Also, the coronavirus has changed consumer behavior, now owning a large network of offline stores is not an advantage, rather, they generate rental costs and reduce profits. Due to these factors, the price of the asset may be low, - said Antonov.[1]

According to Morozova, the court granted the petition of the investigation to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to Weinberg, who is charged under Part 2 of Art. 199 of the Criminal Code (tax evasion committed by a group of persons on an especially large scale).

The representative of the court clarified that in connection with the announcement of Weinberg on the international wanted list, the above preventive measure was chosen in absentia, since he will be detained for two months from the moment of detention in Russia or extradition to the country. So far, as the press secretary noted, the court ruling has not entered into legal force and can be appealed to the Moscow City Court.
