Alcatraz AI is a Bulgarian startup developing a device for controlling access to premises. The gadget uses 3D human face authentication and artificial intelligence to create safe spaces. The company claims that their solution guarantees a higher degree of protection of premises than the usual use of badges and access cards.
Alcatraz AI was established in 2016. The founder is Bulgarian Vince Gaidarzhiev, who previously worked at Apple and Nvidia. The company is headquartered in the United States (by September 2022).

2022: Raising $25 million, including from Almaz Capital Fund
In mid-September 2022, it became known about investing $25 million in Alcatraz AI. The A-series funding round was headed by the Alexander Galitsky Almaz Capital fund.
Endeavor Catalyst, Silverline Capital, Golden Seeds, JCI Ventures, Ray Stata, LDV Partners and private investors from Bulgaria also participated in the deal. The startup is going to spend the funds on accelerating international growth, expanding the development team, hiring sales and marketing specialists and optimizing the product.
By September 2022, Alcatraz AI's clients include telecommunications companies, state-owned banks, and financial institutions from the United States. The start-up is piloting more than 25 Fortune 500 companies.
