In accordance with the Law of the Udmurt Republic dated 30.06.2005 No. 36-RZ "On archival business in the Udmurt Republic," the Archives Committee under the Government of the Udmurt Republic is the authorized executive body of state power of the Udmurt Republic in the field of archival business. The Archives Committee carries out its activities in cooperation with other state authorities, other state bodies, local governments, organizations and citizens. The main tasks of the Committee are:
- conducting a state policy in the field of archival businesses on the territory of the Udmurt Republic, determining the concept and strategy of its development;
- organization of acquisition, preservation, accounting and use of documents of the Archival Fund of the Udmurt Republic;
- implementation of centralized state accounting of documents of the Archival Fund of the Udmurt Republic;
- inter-sectoral coordination in the field of archival businesses and documentation management;
- control over compliance with the legislation of the Udmurt Republic in the field of archival businesses;
- management of subordinate state archives of the Udmurt Republic;
- implementation of international cooperation in the field of archival businesses.
The Committee is directly subordinate to the Central State Archive of the Udmurt Republic and its branches.
