Atracsys Sarl is the Swiss producer of optical technologies. The company began the activity in 2004, having selected from the Swiss federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. The portfolio of Atracsys Sarl includes components for the open platform of optical navigation and robotic positioning. From 2007 to 2019 the company submitted more than 350 projects for multinational corporations in more than 20 countries of the world.
History
2019: Smith & Nephew purchased Atracsys Sarl
In the middle of June, 2019 the British company Smith & Nephew signed the purchase agreement Atracsys Sarl for the unknown amount.
Atracsys Sarl develops the advanced optical systems for application in robotic surgery. Products of firm are also used by the industrial robotic systems, such as Kiva. The main offers of Atracsys include Sprytrack 180 (a compact mobile optical system), Fusiontrack 250 (the system of passive and active optical positioning) and Fusiontrack 500 (the system of exact positioning in real time).
Smith & Nephew intends to use the Atracsys Fusiontrack 500 system in the robotic platform of the next generation. The multifunction digital system of robotic surgery will be put on the market in 2020. In comparison with the existing optical technologies of positioning, Atracsys Fusiontrack 500 offers higher speed of work and performance, reduces duration of the procedure and increases the accuracy of movements of the manipulator at accomplishment of difficult surgical tasks.
After completion of the transaction Smith & Nephew intends to develop actively the markets of orthopedics, neurosurgery, traumatology and stomatology. The transaction is going to be closed in the third quarter 2019.[1]
