At the beginning of April, 2019 Smith & Nephew announced acquisition of Leaf Healthcare after successful two-year partnership in the field of distribution.
The monitoring system of Leaf Healthcare is provided by the small, easy wireless sensor which traces provision and mobility of heavy patients during stay in hospital. The device controls the patient's provision (including an angle of lead of the upper end of a bed) and notifies personnel when it is necessary to replace provision in order to avoid decubituses. The independent randomized controlled study conducted by Stanford University showed that application of a monitoring system of Leaf Healthcare reduces risk of development of decubituses in the patients chained to a bed by 73%.
