2025: Searches in the case of large embezzlement in an office in St. Petersburg

On July 23, 2025, searches were carried out at the BBB Bank branch in St. Petersburg as part of a criminal case on embezzlement on an especially large scale. In connection with operational measures, the credit institution was forced to temporarily suspend customer service in the additional office of St. Petersburg to provide law enforcement agencies with the ability to perform work.

In the
office of the BBB Bank in St. Petersburg, searches were carried out in the case of large embezzlement

According to the publication "Business Petersburg," searches in the bank were carried out within the framework of the same embezzlement case, in which investigative actions were carried out at the Mikhailovsky Theater on July 22, 2025. The event is attended by employees of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation and the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Fontanka clarifies that the searches are related to Vladimir Kekhman, artistic director of the Mikhailovsky Theater and director of the Gorky Moscow Art Theater. Previously, he was taken for interrogation to the UK. According to Izvestia, he is suspected of exceeding the estimated cost under three contract contracts during the reconstruction of the old stage of the Moscow Art Theater, the restoration of which began in 2022. Kekhman was charged under Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - embezzlement on an especially large scale. Such acts are punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years with a fine of up to 1 million rubles. It is also reported that a criminal case was initiated against businessman Marat Karginov, the owner of the RSK-Renaissance company, which received a contract for repair work at the Moscow Art Theater in 2023, when Kekhman directed the theater.[1]
