2025: Introduction of industrial robots

In December 2025, a robotic welding complex with hybrid technology was successfully commissioned at the Bryansk Machine-Building Plant (BMZ). Its purpose is to optimize the production of electric locomotives. The equipment uses a method that combines laser and arc welding types, which reduced the time for one of the key production operations.

According to the publication "Bryanskaya Street," the project was implemented as part of the modernization of the enterprise with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade through a cluster investment platform (IC). The equipment is installed in the trolley shop and is involved in the manufacture of beams for the frames of electric locomotive trolleys produced by the Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant.

Hybrid technology combines the advantages of two processes: the power and accuracy of the laser beam, as well as the reliability and flexibility of the welding arc. This approach provides high processing speed and improved quality of welded joints.

The chief welder of BMZ Grigory Lobzha said that manual welding of the side of the trolley frame previously took 6-7 hours. The implemented robotic complex performs the same task in 40 minutes, which means reducing the operation time by 9-10 times. As noted by "Bryanskaya Street," the parts produced with its help passed ultrasonic testing without detecting defects. The operators of the trolley shop, specialists of the chief welder department and technical services were trained to operate the new complex.

According to Transmashkhoding, the modernization project of the enterprise includes the purchase and installation of more than 100 new units of equipment. In 2025, 639 million rubles were allocated for these purposes with the involvement of a preferential loan.[1]
