2024: R-Pharm bought Baltfarma
On July 31, 2024, it became known that R-Pharm acquired a resident of the Baltpharm St. Petersburg special economic zone to fulfill the terms of the first offset contract. Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Oleg Ergashev noted that this deal will allow R-Pharm to build a pharmaceutical plant on time at the Novoorlovskaya site.
According to the Pharmaceutical Bulletin, earlier R-Pharm had difficulties with the implementation of the offset contract, but the purchase of Baltfarma helped overcome them. According to Ergashev, all difficulties were successfully resolved, and the construction of the plant will be completed on time. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed, and R-Pharm did not provide the media with comments on this matter.
The first offset contract in the history of St. Petersburg was announced in January 2023. The city government chose R-Pharm as the winner of the tender for the construction of a pharmaceutical plant in October 2022. Pharmasintez Group of Companies also participated in the competition. The initial value of the contract was ₽16,8 billion, but R-Farm proposed to build a new production facility for ₽8,7 billion.
According to the terms of the competition, the winner is obliged to build a pharmaceutical enterprise at his own expense in three years. In the next seven years, the city will buy drugs from the investor for its needs. We are talking about 31 international non-proprietary names (INN) - analogues of drugs for the treatment of malignant neoplasms and diabetes, produced by such corporations as Pfizer, Novartis, Bayer and AstraZeneca.
Vice Governor Ergashev stressed that the offset contract with R-Pharm is an important step for the development of the city's pharmaceutical industry and will provide access to modern medicines. The plant in the special economic zone "Novoorlovskaya" will become a significant contribution to the industrial development of the region.[1]
