Bill Gates bought a 4% stake in Heineken for €848 million

Microsoft founder Bill Gates acquired 3.76% of the securities of Heineken Holding NV, the controlling shareholder of the second largest brewing company in the world. The deal, which was announced on February 17, 2023 on the website of the Netherlands Financial Markets Authority ( AFM), exceeded €800 million. Read more here.

Gates decided to give almost his entire fortune to charity

In mid-July 2022, Bill Gates announced his decision to donate almost his entire fortune to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which he founded with his ex-wife Melinda. By the end of the month, the entrepreneur will transfer $20 billion to the fund. Read more here.

Grant to Philips

On November 23, 2021, Philips announced that it had received a grant to develop a suite of ultrasound applications in obstetrics.

Investing $35 million in unique coronavirus drug developer Exscientia

Bill Gates has agreed to leave his wife from a joint charitable foundation for compensation

In early July 2021, Bill Gates and his ex-wife Melinda agreed that if in two years one of them declares the impossibility of working together as co-chairs of the charity, then Melinda will step down from this post and cease to be a trustee of the foundation. If that happens, Gates will provide Melinda with funds to do charity work on her own.

Fund CEO Mark Suzman, in a commentary to the Wall Street Journal, noted that Bill and Melinda separately and together assured him of their firm intention to continue working together as the fund's co-chairs over the long term.

Bill Gates has agreed to leave the ex-wife from a joint charitable foundation for compensation

According to the Wall Street Journal, the co-chairs allocated an additional $15 billion to the fund to continue the fight against poverty, disease and inequality in the United States and around the world. This is their largest donation since 2000. Since the beginning of 2000, the fund has spent more than $55 billion on achieving a vision of a world in which everyone has the opportunity to live a healthy and productive life.

Mark Suzman also noted that the founders of the foundation decided to increase the number of trustees who will monitor its management. In June 2021, billionaire Warren Buffett came out of their number, pointing to major changes in the organization provoked by the divorce of the Gates.

The new trustees, according to the general director of the fund, should help with the allocation of resources and strategic leadership, as well as ensuring stability and implementation of new ideas for the development of the fund. The names of the new trustees will be announced in January 2022.[1]

2020: Investment in an ultrasound scanner developer Caption Health

At the end of November 2020, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation awarded Caption Health a grant of $4.5 million to develop an AI system that will allow medical professionals with no experience in ultrasound diagnostics to perform ultrasound of the lungs. This decision should help HCWs diagnose pneumonia in a timely and accurate manner, the leading cause of death for children under 5 years of age, in low-resource settings and a shortage of highly qualified doctors.
