In mid-August 2021, Carta announced the attraction of $500 million in investments as part of its eighth round of financing, according to which the startup was valued at $7.4 billion. This is more than double the estimate that the company received in the seventh round ($3.1 billion), held eight months earlier.

Among those who invested in Carta in August 2021 was a venture fund with Russian roots Digital Horizon. His managing partner Alan Waxman noted that Carta has established itself well as a platform for venture funds and startups.

We believe that if anyone manages to liberalize the private investment market and put capital transactions with private companies on technological rails, it will be Carta. We expect that by 2024 more than half of the company's revenue will fall on the exchange, CartaX he said.

Carta intends to spend the funds raised from investors on the development of its stock exchange for trading shares of private companies. In addition to Digital Horizon, an investment company has invested in Carta, as well as private investors in the closed club DH Select.

By mid-August 2021, the Carta platform has more than 18 thousand companies with a total valuation of over $1 trillion. The platform automatically updates shareholder registers, recalculates current shares, changes the priority of rights after each new round of investments. Carta notes that the platform works in real time and guarantees the authenticity of data, unlike Excel tables, which are used by many startups and funds.[1]
