2022: EKF joining the consortium
The National Research University "MPEI" signed an agreement on cooperation between NRU "MPEI" and the Russian company-manufacturer of electrical equipment EKF. On the part of EKF, the document was signed by Dmitry Kucherov, Director of the Strategic Development Department, and on the part of MPEI, First Vice-Rector Vladimir Nikolaevich Zamolodchikov. EKF announced this on December 22, 2022. Read more here.
2021: Creation of a consortium
On December 9, 2021, an agreement was signed between the National Research University "MPEI" and the Ufa State Oil Technical University (UGNTU) to create a consortium "Climate Transformation of the Energy Industry." The consortium is part of the MPEI strategic project implemented within the framework of the Priority-2030 state program for supporting higher education.
Within the framework of the joint scientific activities of the consortium participants, it is planned to create a set of technological solutions and regulatory documents aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of the energy industry.
In the future, other participants engaged in research in the field of hydrogen technologies, as well as leading domestic energy and oil and gas companies, will join the consortium .
NRU MPEI will be responsible for the development and implementation of new profiles and programs for training students and advanced training of employees of organizations specialized for the tasks of mastering technological solutions to reduce the carbon footprint.
Within the framework of the consortium, in the near future, a carbon landfill will be created on the basis of UGNTU to implement measures to control climatic active gases with the participation of MPEI and other universities and scientific organizations, as well as tests of a full cycle of technologies for the capture, binding and underground storage of carbon dioxide.
The corresponding agreement was signed by university rectors Nikolai Rogalev (NRU MPEI) and Oleg Baulin (UGNTU).
{{quote 'In general, the consortium was created to solve applied, extremely popular in the future power problems related to reduction emissions in the atmosphere, technological development of carbon-free energy production processes, - said the rector of NRU "MPEI" Nikolai Rogalev. - Moscow The Energy Institute within the framework of the consortium is responsible for issues related to the development of technological solutions for the possibility of using hydrogen as a source of fuel for electricity generation. USTU is responsible for the development of technologies for working with carbon dioxide gas and with the refinement of technologies that ensure the general implementation of the project. }}
The key story is the complexity of solutions for climate transformation, - commented on the creation of the consortium, the rector of the UGNTU Oleg Baulin. - We are talking about the creation of full-cycle projects to solve issues, starting with the production of pure hydrogen, methane-hydrogen mixtures, transportation and storage of gases. It is important to create the entire production chain - not separate technological solutions. |
