2024: Coffee Like bought Coffee Moose

Coffee chain Coffee Like co-owners of AST publishing house Pavel Grishkov and Alexander Boguslavsky bought rival Coffee Moose. This deal was announced on March 7, 2024.

Under the terms of the agreement, 75 Coffee Moose outlets in 45 cities of Russia, including Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, etc., become the property of Coffee Like. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

As a result of the transaction, the total number of Coffee Like points in Russia will be 1126. The company stressed that Coffee Like is the largest coffee format chain in the country. The company is negotiating with several more regional networks to buy their business on similar terms, they said.

Market participants interviewed by Kommersant, commenting on the deal, note that they are waiting for the continued consolidation of the market, believing that in the face of rising costs, large networks will be able to save on scale.

According to Elena Perepelitsa, head of RestCon, the acquisition of the existing coffee chain may be more profitable compared to investments in the opening of a new project, since the buyer understands the effectiveness of operating establishments. In addition, the restaurant business is often sold at a discount, she added in a conversation with the publication.

According to the founder of the One Price Coffee chain, Sergei Rumyantsev, in large cities, the coffee shop market by March 2024 is already quite saturated and it is difficult to find a place to open a new point, because buying an existing player can be a way out.

By March 2024, the owners of the Coffee Like network are Pavel Grishkov and Alexander Boguslavsky, who own 44.02% and 3.25% of Coffee Like LLC, respectively. The remaining shares belong to Ivan Ermilov (29.4%), Arthur Voskanyan (16.25%) and Anton Makarov (7.08%).[1]
