Invellect Group of Companies bought Coffee Like
On October 18, 2024, it became known that the Invellect group of companies specializing in merger and acquisition transactions acquired a 100% stake in the Coffee Like coffee chain. The deal, which was completed in two stages, significantly strengthened Invellect's position in the Russian coffee market.
According to Forbes, the perimeter of the transaction includes the management company Coffee Like LLC, the trading house Logistics Coffee LLC and a 25% stake in STM Coffee LLC, a joint venture with Tasty Coffee for roasting coffee beans. Although the exact amount of the transaction was not disclosed, experts estimate it in the range from ₽1,5 billion to ₽5 billion.
Founded in 2013 by Ayaz Shabutdinov, Coffee Like is the leader among coffee chains in Russia. By March 2024, the chain had expanded to 1,100 locations, including through the acquisition of rival Coffee Moose franchise.
The founder of Invellect, David Taschyan, called the purchase of Coffee Like a strategic investment. The company plans to strengthen the network's leadership in the Russian coffee market "with you," expand its presence in the regions, digitalize business and develop new coffee formats.
Experts note that the acquisition of Coffee Like may increase the margin of Invellet's own coffee business. The group already owns coffee roasting and distribution company Laboratory Coffee, coffee vending machine chain Hohoro and self-service coffee chain Lifehacker Coffee.
Before the transaction, the largest shareholder of Coffee Like was Pavel Grishkov with a share of 39.58%. Other significant shareholders were Ivan Ermilov (29.08%), Artur Voskanyan (16.07%) and Anton Makarov (8.08%).
Experts note that the acquisition of Coffee Like can help Invellect increase the margin of its own coffee business, which includes coffee roasting and distribution company Laboratory Coffee, a network of Hohoro vending machines and Lifehacker Coffee self-service coffee shops.[1]
