2023: Launch of the Defense IT Solutions Development Center

On August 31, 2023, the Defense Tech Center opened in Astana. It will select projects in the field of defense for further use in the armed forces of Kazakhstan.

The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, as well as the Astana Hub international technopark. According to the press service, on the Ministry of Defence opening day startups , a Defense Tech Battle competition was held at the center's site.

Representatives of IT companies proposed their developments in the nominations "the best innovative technology in the field of defense," "the best solution for security and protection" and "a revolutionary solution in defense," the department said.

According to the results of the competition, Denis Zinoviev's three-dimensional tactical simulator "Geotactics" was recognized as the best innovative technology in the field of defense. It is designed to study topography, classes in fire, tactical training of artillery, air defense and control. The Game of Drones project of Abylaykhan Zhakanov, which is a simulator for controlling equipment online, was called a revolutionary solution in defense. Military personnel from either end of the country can connect to drones using phones or computers and learn to control them. The simulator also allows you to conduct training competitions in the form of team battles.

All three winners received certificates and $5 thousand each. By the beginning of September 2023, the defense department is engaged in obtaining a state assignment for the practical implementation of innovative developments.[1]
