At the end of March 2022, the German telecommunications holding Deutsche Telekom announced its withdrawal from the Russian market, at which it was represented by Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions with a staff of more than 2,000 people.
As noted in Deutsche Telekom, the company has a small presence in the Russian Federation: it does not have a network infrastructure in the country and any business relations with local companies. This development center, which served customers outside Russia, was closed.
"We have a development team, which is mainly based in St. Petersburg, and provides services to customers outside the Russian Federation. In recent weeks, we have offered our employees the opportunity to work outside the Russian Federation, many of them took advantage of this opportunity and left the country. We have also made sure that we maintain our international customer service as well as possible without our presence in Russia. Based on the above, we cease our activities in Russia, "Deutsche Telekom said in a statement.
It is also noted that Deutsche Telekom has taken a number of measures aimed at high-quality service to its customers without the participation of the Russian team, which also worked with foreign customers.
Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions developed software for large Western customers in the telecom, auto and industry sectors, and is also a center of expertise in Java development and software testing. In addition to St. Petersburg, the offices of the development center were in Voronezh and Moscow.
Deutsche Telekom associates its withdrawal from the Russian market with the beginning of a Russian special operation in Ukraine.[1]
