History
2024: IT Infrastructure Hacking
On October 9, 2024, Dr.Web announced a hacker attack on its IT infrastructure. The main goal of cybercriminals was to demand a ransom. As a result of the attack, the antivirus product developer had to disable some of its resources and suspend the release of virus database updates.
According to official figures, the attack began on September 14, 2024. According to current security protocols, Dr.Web has shut down servers and launched a comprehensive diagnostic process. To analyze and eliminate the consequences of the incident, a set of measures was used, which included the use of the Dr.Web FixIt service! for Linux.
The attack was stopped in a timely manner, all resources were disconnected from the network and were thoroughly checked. The main goal was to demand a ransom from our company, but we are not in any negotiations with the attackers, Dr.Web said in a statement. |
Telegram channel "Information Leaks" notes that the hacker group DumpForums is behind the invasion. Cybercriminals themselves claim that they were able to unload about 10 TB of data from Dr.Web's IT infrastructure. Hackers claim that they went unnoticed for a whole month. As breaking confirmation the malefactors provided several dumps of databases of internal resources of the company, such as: ldap.dev.drweb.com, vxcube.drweb.com, bugs.drweb.com, antitheft.drweb.com, rt.drweb.com, etc.
Dr.Web says that law enforcement officers are investigating the incident, and therefore the company cannot give detailed comments "so as not to interfere with the investigation."

2022: Exchange of data on cyber threats with Rostelecom-Solar
Rostelecom-Solar and Dr.Web have entered into an agreement to jointly counter computer attacks. Companies will share analytics and statistics on current cyber threats, as well as detected indicators of compromise (IOC). 2017: Hit by Ukrainian sanctions
On May 16, 2017, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, by his decree, enacted the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on sanctions against Russian companies and their subsidiaries in Ukraine. 2010

Small, medium and large businesses remain the main group of users of domestic antivirus.
According to the company, over the past five years, the share of sales of Dr.Web licenses for business has grown steadily, having crossed the 50% milestone in 2013, and today it accounts for almost two-thirds of the total sales flow.
The main corporate solution of the company is the Dr.Web Enterprise Security Suite, which includes information security tools for any object - from workstations to mobile devices. In 2015, sales of Dr.Web Desktop Security Suite workstation security products grew by 12.46%, Dr.Web Server Security Suite server products by 12.84%, Dr.Web Mail Security Suite email filtering products by 8.76%, and Dr.Web Gateway Security Suite internet gateway protection products by 21.55%.
According to the developers, among the features of the company's products are the presence of a single Management Center for easy administration, the ability to protect mobile devices, the availability of licenses and certificates of regulatory authorities, which allow, among other things, to ensure the security of systems that contain personal data or high-level information secrecy.
Sanctions in Ukraine
On September 16, 2015, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed an addendum to the decree banning public procurement from several dozen companies, including the Russian Kaspersky Lab and Dr.Web.
These companies are prohibited from selling their products to state institutions and enterprises in Ukraine, since these decisions, as Poroshenko's decree suggests, pose a potential threat to the country's national security and contribute to terrorist activities. Read more here.
