2025: Opening of the Centre

The Center for Digital Engineering, specializing in the development of IT equipment and technological solutions for metallurgy, was opened by a metallurgical company Evraz based on. Siberian State Industrial University This became known on June 6, 2025. The new engineering hub is designed to design and test digital systems that can increase the efficiency of production processes and the resilience of metallurgical enterprises to external technological risks.

According to city-n.ru, the creation of the center became possible thanks to Evraz ZSMK investments in the amount of ₽79 million over four years in the development of modern laboratories of the university. The new division has received advanced technical equipment, including a complex for three-dimensional laser scanning of industrial facilities.

Students of the center will have the opportunity to model parts and components of industrial structures of metallurgical enterprises. Students will be able to prototype technical solutions and work to improve the quality of manufactured products using digital technologies.

The opening of the engineering center is part of the "Engineering Bachelor" educational program aimed at preparing students for practical work in modern metallurgical production. The program was launched by Evraz together with SibGIU in 2023.

The new center will be an important platform for developing the practical skills of future engineers and conducting scientific research in the field of digital technologies. Students will have access to modern tools for industrial design and process modeling.

Alexander Umanets, Director of Personnel and Social Affairs of the Siberia Division of Evraz, noted the company's pride in launching a unique educational program. He stressed that the goal of the project is to train highly qualified specialists of a new level who are able to effectively solve the problems of the metallurgical plant.^[1]
