Hubert Burda Media is a German publishing concern, whose representative offices as of October 2014 are located in Germany, Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and Asia. In Germany, along with its headquarters in Offenburg, the company has representative offices in Munich, Berlin and Hamburg.
The success story of the concern began in Offenburg, a city in southwestern Germany, with a printing house that initially employed only three people. The founder of the empire, Franz Burda, published his first magazines back in the time of Emperor William II. His son, Senator Franz Burda, became his successor and, having discovered publishing talent, began to expand the enterprise.
A special role in the success of the publishing enterprise of Franz Burda II was played by his wife Anna Magdalene Lemminger, known throughout the world as Aenne Burda. For more than 50 years, she has published fashion publications.
Doctor Hubert Burda began work at the publishing house in the sixties of the twentieth century.
At the end of 1986, after the death of his father, Hubert Burda took charge of the publishing house, which at that time published 15 magazines, and a printing house. Hubert Burda laid the main milestones in the development of the German media landscape: the socio-political magazine Focus, the women's weekly Lisa and publications under his brand, the star magazine Bunte.
