History

In 1993, the Izhevsk Mechanical Institute (IMI), according to the results of certification, received the status of a technical university and became known as the Izhevsk State Technical University (IzhSTU).

2025: Opening of the Astra Laboratory

In FSBEI HE "Izhevsk State Technical University named after M.T. Kalashnikov (IzhSTU), the opening of the" Astra Laboratory "took place - an educational platform for in-depth work with information technologies, design and research activities of students and teachers. The laboratory is equipped with 16 workplaces with a pre-installed operating system (OS) Astra Linux 1.8 and other software products of Astra Group. IT solutions of the vendor will form the basis of the annual practical training of 125 students on the basis of the specialist "Information security of automated systems." In the laboratory, students of the Department of Information Security will be trained in such information security disciplines as security of operating systems, automation of processes based on information technologies, comprehensive provision of information security, fundamentals of information security, artificial intelligence systems, etc. Students of additional professional education programs on Astra Linux will also be trained here as part of the Astra Group authorized training center. Classes will be taught by teachers of the Department of Information Security. Many of them have already taken courses on Astra Linux, are now studying the Tantor Postgres DBMS, and the nearest plans are to master Termidesk VDI and VMmanager. Teachers of the Department of Information Systems also studied in these courses, in the future the products of Astra Group will be studied by teachers of other departments of the university.

The laboratory is also used for specialized competitions, olympiads and conferences.

Before the opening of the laboratory, students of IzhSTU were engaged in the framework of the Astra University project, now they have access to all our software solutions and they will be able to learn from Astra Linux. This approach in training will help students reach a new level of competence of IT and information security specialists in working with domestic software, which is so necessary for enterprises in Izhevsk and its nearby territories, - said Roman Borisov, Director of the Department of Development and Sales in Education of Astra Group.
