2024: Development of CRM and ERP systems

In early February 2024, it became known that Lab SP, founded by former top managers of the Russian division of the German SAP, will develop enterprise-class software. We are talking about creating software that can become an alternative to the products of foreign suppliers who have left the Russian market due to the current geopolitical situation.

According to the Kommersant newspaper, Lab SP plans to develop a specialized integration platform. In addition, the company will develop CRM (Customer Relationship Management System) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning System) solutions. In the case of ERP, the cost of implementing the Lab SP project is estimated at 250 million rubles. At the same time, the company expects to release the minimum viable product by the end of 2024.

Pavel Deverilin, General Director of Lab SP, said that the ERP system will be created "taking into account the performance and functionality requirements of large corporations that have an acute import substitution issue." In the future, this product is expected to be used by corporate Russian users who use SAP solutions.

The head of Auriga projects, Oleg Dyrdin, believes that the indicated terms and budget for the development of the ERP system "look real subject to strict project management." In his opinion, for 250 million rubles, you can create a platform core and several modules that implement standard business processes. However, Dyrdin believes that the development of a fully functional solution comparable to SAP products in 2024 will require "multiple" financial costs. Market participants also talk about the high complexity of the project.

ERP is a complex software package, the creation and industrial implementation of which will take decades and a huge amount of resources not only for developers, but to a greater extent for customers, "said Anton Malkov, head of the board of directors of Galactica Corporation.[1]

2023: Ex-head of SAP in Russia Andrei Filatov moved to Lab SP

Andrei Filatov left the post of head of SAP in Russia and moved to Lab SP, whose activities are aimed at technical support and correction in the operation of SAP systems for customers in Russia, for example, their localization, so that systems can take into account changes in Russian legislation. 2022: Establishing a company

As TAdviser found out, the team of former SAP CIS employees, who, according to them, were "the core of the division responsible for localizing SAP products for Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine" and have "more than 20 years of experience in product development and support," went to work in a new company - "Laboratory of Process Automation Systems" ("Lab JV").

According to the database of legal entities Kontur.Fokus, "this company was formed in December 2022 and was originally called" Saplab, "but in February 2023 changed its name to" Laboratory of Process Automation Systems. " Legally, it is registered in St. Petersburg, but the company's website says that its headquarters is located in the very center of Moscow, and its regional offices are in St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg.

Among those who moved to the Laboratory of Process Automation Systems are the former: Head of the SAP Labs Software Development Department Yuri Dyachkov; Lead Human Resources Software Developer Alexander Yuzvik and SAP HCM Localization Manager Boris Kolesnikov expert on solutions in the field of finance from the SAP Labs product development department Vladimir Eroshkin and his ex-colleagues in the department Yulia Sushkovich and Alexey Stepanov, as well as other former employees of SAP CIS.

According to the team, it continues to develop the localization of SAP solutions in the field of HCM, finance and logistics, support Russian clients and process their messages, provide consulting services and additional services to clients.

We do our own development and offer our services on a subscription basis. We do not confirm or exclude that the global vendor can take into account our localization when conducting global developments, the company's Telegram channel says. - All our developments will be registered in the register of domestic software. The Laboratory of Process Automation Systems website explains that technologically, the company uses the same approach that SAP previously used to supply updates (add-on technology). "This is the standard"^[3].

We work according to SAP development standards - taking into account the requirements of Russian legislation and focusing on the interests of the client, - it says there.

Localization of SAP solutions in accordance with the law is one of the most pressing issues for all companies in the Russian Federation using SAP solutions, the company notes.

At the end of December 2022, the Laboratory of Process Automation Systems released the first version of the add-on on finance and logistics for Russia. And in February 2023, she presented a review of the "roadmap" for the development of HCM localization for Russia^[4].

It is noteworthy that initially the founder and general director of this new company was Igor Kuznetsov, a former member and general director of some legal entities of the Marvell IT distributor. Since 2016, for example, he has been the general director of Marvell CT. And in January, Vladimir Koshelev became the sole owner of the Laboratory of Process Automation Systems. He was previously a member of a number of security companies in St. Petersburg, and was also registered as an individual entrepreneur engaged in law.

At the time of publication, the Laboratory of Process Automation Systems was unable to answer TAdviser's questions about the change of ownership and plans for the development of the company.

Global SAP, we recall, against the background of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict in 2022 decided to curtail its business in Russia, and from January 2023 also completely block Russian customers from accessing their system, through which they received technical support - receiving software updates, security patches, placing applications for solving various problems. The latter is associated with the 8th package of EU sanctions against Russia, which includes a ban on the provision of IT consulting services to Russians.

At the same time, as of February 2023, the German vendor is preparing a special portal for Russian customers with current technical support contracts, from where they can download software updates. Read more here.
