Data breach of hundreds of thousands of customers
On December 15, 2023, it became known that unknown cybercriminals hacked the information infrastructure of the LabQuest network of medical laboratories. At the disposal of the attackers were personal data on hundreds of thousands of customers of the company.
According to the Telegram channel "Information Leaks," an Excel file has been posted on the Internet, containing information, presumably, about the clients of "LabQuest." These are full name, phone number (405 thousand unique numbers), email address (171.6 thousand unique addresses), gender, date of birth, passport (series, number, by whom and when issued). In total, the base includes 466,012 lines. In addition, the attackers posted dumps of mailboxes of employees of the same laboratory in PST format (storage of messages, contacts, calendars, tasks and other elements of MS Outlook). All this information can be used in various fraudulent schemes.
LabQuest reported that the company initiated an internal investigation to verify reports of a hacker invasion. The medical laboratory reported a possible leak of personal data of clients to law enforcement agencies. It is noted that as of the specified date, all security systems were checked - they operate normally. At the same time, it is not specified whether the leak of personal data could be associated with the introduction of a ransomware program.

The beginning of a large-scale regional expansion
In early October 2022, it became known that the Labquest network of medical laboratories began a large-scale regional expansion. To do this, the company has found a new way: to create partnerships with clinics in various cities of Russia to manage research laboratories.
As a representative of Labkvest told Vedomosti, the company will take unprofitable production laboratories at private clinics under a commercial concession agreement into operational management. The company did not disclose the number of points and only noted that the project will be implemented in many cities of the Russian Federation.
Labquest clarified that within the framework of the new model, the company is positioned as part of a medical center and cooperation is formalized under two brands - the LabQuest clinic and laboratory, which brands the laboratory and opens its own treatment room for patients. LabQuest integrates the laboratory into the medical center, acting as a professional operating manager of the entire laboratory complex or block that is present in the medical center, and by strengthening its brand, it helps to increase the load and efficiency of the partner laboratory, loading it with additional orders from the regional market.
Another cooperation option provides for only operational management of the existing production laboratory without co-branding. LabQuest conducts an audit, fully undertakes the organization of the laboratory's work and uses it as a hub to direct the flow of biomaterials not only from its own network, but also from other medical organizations in the region.
LabQuest receives a room from the clinic, the opportunity to work in it, use the laboratory license of the clinic itself for work, the ability to consolidate its flows from the region without sending them to Moscow. In some cases, when the patient flow and the flow of analyzes are limited only by studies that are performed on the basis of the clinic's partner laboratory, there is no need for complex supply chains. Working with the clinic, the company receives a permanent and reliable partner in the region.[3]
Opening of a network of medical clinics Q-clinic
On July 13, 2022, LabQuest opened its first multidisciplinary medical outpatient center under the Q-Clinic brand. By the end of the month, the company intends to launch 13 more such institutions in the capital of Russia and the Moscow region. Read more here.
