2025: The clinic will pay 1 million rubles to patients who contracted hepatitis during hemodialysis

In December 2025, a court in Kursk recovered more than 1 million rubles from the Nephrosovet private medical institution in favor of three patients infected with the hepatitis C virus. Infection occurred during hemodialysis procedures.

According to the publication "RIA Kursk," patients were treated in the clinic for chronic diseases. Subsequently, a planned examination revealed hepatitis C in all three. The examination found that the victims had an identical version of the virus, which proves the common source of infection within the medical institution. An on-site check of the Office of Rospotrebnadzor in the Kursk Region recorded violations of sanitary and epidemiological standards in the Nefrosovet.

Patients of the Nephrosoviet clinic in the Kursk region infected with hepatitis during hemodialysis will receive compensation in the amount of 1 million rubles

According to the joint press service of the judicial system of the Kursk region, the court of first instance partially satisfied the claim, obliging the clinic to pay each plaintiff 350 thousand rubles in compensation. The judicial board for civil cases of the Kursk Regional Court upheld this decision.

This case is not the only litigation involving the Nefrosovet network. Earlier, in September 2025, the Arbitration Court of the West Siberian District confirmed the decision to recover 30 million rubles from the Omsk branch of the clinic to the budget of the Territorial Compulsory Health Insurance Fund (TFCMI). The funds were recognized as spent for other purposes.

A check by the TFCMI of the Omsk Region found that at the end of 2022 the branch purchased 32 hemodialysis devices with compulsory medical insurance for a total of 28.8 million rubles. At the time of the purchase, the institution had accounts payable to counterparties outstanding for three months. All courts, including the cassation, refused the Nefrosovet to satisfy the claim put forward by the medical institution as a protest measure, and supported the position of the controlling body.[1][2][3]"
