History
2025: Production of radiopharmaceuticals for cancer diagnosis launched in Moscow region
In November 2025, it became known that the nuclear pharmaceuticals division at the Institute of Nuclear Medicine of JSC "Medicine" in Khimki began regular production of radiopharmaceutical fluorodeoxyglucose, labeled with the short-lived isotope fluorine-18, which is key in the diagnosis of cancer. The company said its advanced equipment allows it to monitor the entire technological cycle in-house.
The production process includes four key stages - synthesis of radiopharmaceutical, strict quality control, prompt delivery to medical institutions and compliance with radiation safety protocols. Quality control includes checking the radiochemical purity, sterility and pyrogenicity of the product.
President of JSC "Medicine," academician of RANGrigory Reutberg noted that the launch of domestic production meets the growing demand for radiopharmaceuticals. He stressed that this increases the accuracy of diagnostics and the availability of modern treatments for cancer patients.
The manufactured drug ¹⁸F-FDG is used for positron emission tomography and computed tomography at the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and the Oncology Center of the Medicine Clinic in Moscow. Now more cancer patients will be able to receive prompt and high-quality treatment through the compulsory health insurance system.
Fluorine-18 is a popular but extremely unstable radionuclide with a short half-life of about 110 minutes. Its effective use is possible only if there are production facilities located near diagnostic centers.
Before launching its own production, many medical institutions in Russia had to purchase ¹⁸F-FDG from abroad or from remote production sites. This significantly limited the availability of the drug and increased the cost of medical examinations for patients[2]
2021: Opening of the Institute of Nuclear Medicine in Khimki
In the spring of 2021, the Institute of Nuclear Medicine in Khimki received the first patients, investments in which amounted to 8 billion rubles. Over the year, the number of patients in the clinic increased by 29%.
2020
Cost of initial GP appointment
For 2020, the cost of the initial appointment of a therapist is 4,900 rubles.
=Plans to provide medical care to patients of the Chechen Republic
In early February 2020, representatives of Medicine JSC (clinic of Academician Reutberg) visited the Chechen Republic, where they met with Deputy Minister of Health of the Chechen Republic Alam Gadaev and General Director of the Aimed Family Clinic Khasan Saidaev. This became known on February 19, 2020.
At a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Health of the Chechen Republic, the issue of the possibility of providing high-tech medical care to residents of the republic within the framework of the compulsory medical insurance program of the VMP in Medicine JSC (clinic of Academician Reutberg) was discussed. It was about conducting surgical interventions in the areas of cardiac surgery and urology, gynecological operations, as well as the treatment of patients with cancer.
As one of the options for cooperation at the meeting, it was also considered the possibility of leaving the team of doctors of the clinic - specialists in various fields of medicine - to the Chechen Republic for advisory appointments of patients.
During a visit to the iMed clinic, representatives of the Medicine JSC clinic also discussed issues of providing high-tech medical care to residents of the Chechen Republic, which they cannot receive at their place of residence. The parties agreed to send such patients to JSC "Medicine" (clinic of academician Reutberg). The corresponding memorandum is planned to be signed in the near future.
Director of the Service for Work with Insurance Companies and Sales of Medicine JSC (clinic of Academician Reutberg) Vladimir Garkavenko commented on the results of meetings held with the leadership of the Ministry of Health of the Chechen Republic and representatives of the Aimed family clinic:
{{quote 'JSC "Medicine" has significant resources to provide high-quality high-tech medical care. Within the framework of the agreements reached, the doctors of the clinic will be able to come to the Chechen Republic and select patients on the spot who require high-tech medical treatment, but who cannot receive it in sufficient volume due to the lack of doctors, or the necessary equipment, or the lack of the necessary experience from our Chechen colleagues. These patients will be able to receive assistance at JSC "Medicine" (clinic of Academician Reutberg) as part of the compulsory medical insurance program of the VMP. }}
In addition, JSC "Medicine" (clinic of academician Reutberg) will train republican doctors. Considering that JSC "Medicine" is the clinical base of the Department of Therapy, General Medical Practice and Nuclear Medicine of the Russian National Research Medical University named after N.I. Pirogov, the issue of retraining doctors of the Chechen Republic in the specialties "general practitioner," "family doctor" was discussed.
2019: Digital adoption
| "Apparently, in the field of digitalization, we are the number one in the country today. We do not have a single department where the highest digital technologies are not applied. We have already begun introducing artificial intelligence as part of X-ray recognition. This gives the same results as the work of a good doctor, "said Academician Grigory Roitberg, president of the Medicine JSC clinic in June 2019. "At the same time, medicine is not only science, but also art. This must be taken into account so as not to get side effects from implementations. Artificial intelligence should help, but in no way replace the doctor. " |
JSC "Medicine" (clinic of Academician Reutberg) has proven itself to be Watson software complexes that check drug prescriptions. Analytical software solutions based on neural networks are connected. Communication with patients through an automatic call center is robotic. Blockchain technologies are being integrated into the patient communication system. And the mobile app allows patients to access the results of high-tech research, including CT scans, anywhere there is an internet connection.
According to Academician Reutberg, the main limiter of innovations is the training of doctors. In the country, it is now seriously lagging behind the requirements that the digitalization of medical services implies:
| "We must consider the level of education doctors have, their desire and ability to work in the new settings of digital medicine. In my opinion, this may become the main problem on the path of digitalization that we will face in the near future. " |
