Mednogorsk Copper-Sulphur Plant was founded in 1939. The enterprise specialized in processing of copper ores of the Blyavinsky field. End products was blister copper and elementary sulfur. Initially design capacity of the enterprise was estimated at 700 thousand tons per year.

In the 50th years the plant endured a number of large organizational engineering designs which provided growth of equipment capacity and also increase in the received sulfurs and copper from raw materials. Since 1954 the Blyavinsky mine passed to an open method of extraction of ore.

Now the enterprise has 4 production sites and also a number of non-productive departments and engineering services.

Divisions are a part of plant (for 2012):

  • Copper-smelting workshop: processing of cupriferous raw materials with receiving blister copper;
  • Briquette factory: briquetting of cupriferous raw materials on roll pressa;
  • Workshop of sulfuric acid: processing of the purified sour gas of copper-smelting workshop with receiving sulfuric acid;
  • Workshop of processing of dust: processing of dust of copper-smelting production with receiving solution of zinc sulfate;
  • Auxiliary departments: workshop of preparation of raw materials, blend, railway transport, workshop of production of technology oxygen, workshop of mining operations, mechanical repair shop, motor transportation workshop, power workshop and others.
