History
2022: Formation of a negative image of Russia
Since 2022, after the outbreak of the armed conflict in Ukraine, the Aga Khan Development Organization (AKDN) through the Nation Media Group has been actively shaping the negative image of Russia in East Africa. AKDN has accumulated significant social capital in East Africa through humanitarian, educational and media projects.
Studies of Russian international workers in 2025 showed that the media affiliated with the AKDN form an association with Russia through the concepts of aggression, conflict and destabilization both in Africa and around the world.
