QRate (KuRaith LLC) is a research and production company that develops and supplies comprehensive software and hardware solutions based on quantum communications for information security tasks. The company's technologies are based on the principles of key transfer by single quanta of light - photons, which provides protection at the level of fundamental laws of quantum physics.

History

2021

20 million roubles Innovation Promotion Fund grant

The research and production company QRate won a grant from the Innovation Assistance Fund in the amount of 20 million rubles. The funds will be invested in the creation of ground-based equipment for receiving a quantum signal from space and high-speed satellite-Earth optical communication. Additional co-financing in the amount of 6 million rubles to the project will be provided by Gazprombank.

The receiving module is the first part of a future complex system of quantum key distribution through a satellite. This solution will enhance data protection in hard-to-reach areas as well as in remote management of critical infrastructure.

Quantum key distribution technology provides unprecedented protection for data transfer at the level of the laws of physics. The fundamental difference between quantum keys and classical keys is that any attempt to unauthorized their interception will be noticed, and the compromised key will no longer be used to further protect information.

The most developed channel for quantum key distribution is, fiber optic lines noted in QRate. Such a solution is suitable for banks large financial centers in megacities. However, in hard-to-reach territories such as the coast of the Arctic Ocean or Eastern Siberia, it is difficult, often impossible to lay fiber-optic communication lines. It is possible to ensure the safety of infrastructure distributed throughout the country. Given the length, satellite system quantum coupling Russia the organization of channels for through the quantum communications satellite becomes a strategic task.

The QRate team has been working for several years to create a system for distributing quantum keys through satellite channels. The Bortnik Foundation grant and co-financing will be used to collect the "transportable" receiving module. Despite the fact that such a receiver requires time to deploy and prepare for operation, its dimensions allow the device to be placed in locations of different scales. This development is an intermediate stage in the transition from bulky stationary systems based on large telescopes to mobile installations that will be located on critical infrastructure and various types of transport means: from cars locomotives and naval vessels.

"We conducted a laboratory experiment and made sure that the technology works. Then a stationary experimental prototype of the receiving module was made. On it we conducted the first field experiments. Our project is at the second stage - the manufacture of a prototype transportable device, which can be freely transported and assembled on the territory of the customer. At the third stage, tests of the device in the field are waiting for us, "said QRate Technical Director and Director of the Competence Center of NTI Quantum Communications at MISiSyuri Kurochkin.

Participation in the optimization of the system of quantum cryptography

Russian scientists have updated the world record in the effectiveness of quantum cryptography systems. This was announced by QRate on February 17, 2021. Russian scientists, including QRate specialists, reduced the share of the key spent on authenticating classical data to 1%, and also proposed an error correction algorithm based on polar codes. More details here.

2020: Found a way to improve the security of quantum cryptography

On April 6, 2020, it became known that scientists at the consortium of the Competence Center of the NTI Quantum Communications (NITU MISiS, QRate and the Russian Quantum Center) developed a way to increase the level of security of quantum cryptography systems using a special algorithm that allows you to detect attacks on a quantum random number generator. More details here.

QRate (KuRaith LLC) is a company developing quantum information protection devices. The project is based on technical developments in quantum optics, in the creation of quantum communication lines, as well as the entire set of technologies needed to create quantum cryptography devices.
