The company QuEra Computing from the USA is engaged in the development of a quantum computer. The company was founded by physicists from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology - Mikhail Lukin, Marcus Grenier, Vladan Vuletich, Dirk Inglund and Nathan Gemelke. QuEra Computing focuses on achieving significant success in two key areas: increasing the number of effective qubits and improving their programmability.
History
2021: Raising $17 million
In mid-November 2021, quantum computer developer QuEra Computing raised $17 million from Rakuten, a California fund with Russian roots Day One Ventures and Frontiers Capital. Business angels Sergey Belousov and Paul Maritz also took part in the investment round.
QuEra Computing plans to use the funds raised to develop castomized algorithms to use the capabilities of the developed architecture for quantum optimization and quantum modeling.
The main development of the company is a quantum computer with 256 qubits with a cooling of one million degrees Kelvin above absolute zero. The QuEra Computing system is designed to solve problems in such areas as logistics, medicine, pharmaceuticals, chemistry, finance.
According to Alex Keesling, CEO of the company, the quantum device will be available through the cloud in 2022. QuEra Computing is already working with several partners to develop and implement customizable algorithms for its applications. He also added that Rakuten and many research scientists are among the company's existing customers.
QuEra seeks to solve critical but classically intractable problems for commercial applications in the field of optimization, modeling, materials science, finance and machine learning, "said Keesling.[1] |
