2020: The underground mining farm because of which Rosseti lost 23 million rubles is spread

On September 28, 2020 Rosseti announced detection of the underground mining farm because of which the company lost nearly 23 million rubles. Such crimes become more and more because of growth of a rate of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

The operating mining farm consisting of 115 for for production of cryptocurrencies was detected in the territory of one of bases in the village of Nikolskoye in the Usmansky Region of Lipetsk region during the next raid conducted after the sharp growth of losses of the electric power on a transmission line.

Specialists established that the agreement of power supply was not signed with the guaranteeing supplier. According to preliminary data, more than 3.3 million kWh for the amount of 22.8 million rubles are stolen. The found computer hardware was withdrawn by police officers.

Upon unaccounted electricity consumption the statement of free-lance electricity consumption is drawn up and the application is submitted to law enforcement agencies, says Rosseti Lipetskenergo Center company.

The company reminded that theft of the electric power in Russia is punishable. In case of identification of plunders the violator not only compensates the caused damage of the company, but also is brought to criminal or administrative responsibility with payment of a penalty. Its size for individuals is from 15 to 30 thousand rubles, for legal — from 200 to 300 thousand rubles.^[1]
