2019: The former head of SGB Ikhtiyor Abdullaev is condemned on 18 years of imprisonment
On September 27, 2019 the Military court of the Republic of Uzbekistan pronounces a conviction against the former chairman of the Service of State Security (SSS) Ikhtiyor Abdullaev and members of his criminal community, the press service of the Supreme Court reports.
On the court session continuing behind closed doors more than two months defendants were interrogated, indications more than three hundred victims and witnesses are listened and investigated, the proofs collected by body of pretrial investigation are investigated and arguments of defendants are comprehensively checked. As a result, the court verdict Ikhtiyor Abdullaev is found guilty of establishing a criminal organization, taking of bribes, the conclusion of transactions contrary to the interests of the Republic of Uzbekistan, racketing, plunder of someone else's property, violation of the customs legislation in especially large sizes, for the benefit of organized group and criminal community, and some other penal acts, by abuse of office for what in total crimes, sentence in the form of 18 years of imprisonment is imposed to it.
Also, are condemned by the court verdict:
- the former vice-chairman of SGB Jahangir Igamov by 16 years,
- the former adviser to the chairman of SGB Alisher Ishankhodzhayev — to 17 years,
- the former deputy prosecutor of the city of Tashkent Yorkin Abdullaev — to 14 years,
- the former deputy head of department on human resource management of the Ministry of Justice Yusufbay Hodzhayev — to 8 years,
- the former Deputy Attorney-General Gayrat Hidoyatov – to 5 years,
- the former vice-chairman of the Supreme Court Bakhadyr Dekhkanov – to 5 years,
- the former prosecutor of the Namangan Ulugbek Toshev region — to 5 years of imprisonment, with deprivation of the right to hold official and materially responsible capacities for certain terms[1].
Sentences taking into account weight and public danger of their acts and also a role in the committed crimes were also imposed to other 15 defendants.
Besides, the court takes the adequate measures directed to repayment of the material harm done by defendants, to both the state interests, and the interests of legal entities and physical persons.
2018: Ikhtiyor Abdullaev replaced Rustam Inoyatov at the head of service
On January 31, 2019 it became known that the head of the Service of National Security (SNS) of Uzbekistan Rustam Inoyatov is relieved of the post after 23 years of work. It became known during the meeting under the chairmanship of the president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoev with participation of representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office and SNB, the Narodnoye Slovo newspaper reports.
Mister Inoyatov worked in KGB of the USSR at different positions, in 1976-1981 served in Afghanistan under diplomatic cover. He was considered the possible successor of the former president of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov who died in September, 2016.
Ikhtiyer Abdullaev is appointed the new chairman of the Service of National Security (SNS) of Uzbekistan. Since April, 2015 he held a position of the Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan.
