Content

Save the Children is a charity, a major recipient of British government funding. It has international status, but was founded in 1919 in Britain - six months later Save the Children had a division in Sweden, through which the main work was later carried out.

The official goal of the organization is to develop and combat the situation of children in developing countries and countries with frequent armed conflicts.

Financing

For 2023, Save the Children operates in almost 120 countries and receives funds from organizations such as, BlackRock,, Pfizer,, and Wrigley Chevron Amazon WWF many others. Save the Children's high positions in the ranking of international philanthropists allow potential investors to reduce taxes well, as well as launch projects related to charity in developing countries. For example, in partnership with Pfizer, the organization supplies vaccination drugs to African countries, which later often served as the basis for accusing these structures of illegal medical trials.

The organisation's total revenue for 2021 was £1.1 billion, up from £962.8 million in 2020.

History

2018: Employees of the organization force children and adolescents to have sex in African countries

In 2018, it turned out that Save the Children was among more than 40 NGOs whose employees forced children and adolescents to have sex in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, using their desperately needed situation.

The report also suspected members of organizations such as Doctors Without Borders, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Rescue Committee and many others.

As it turned out, in some regions, "benefactors" made the practice of exchanging humanitarian aid for sexual services generally accepted: it was perceived by the local population as a given. The investigation revealed that it had been conducted since at least 2002 and over the years became only larger.

Humanitarian personnel often demanded sex from young girls and boys not only in exchange for food, but also for other basic things: clothes and shoes, soap, materials for building shelters, textbooks and pencils, as well as access to educational programs and temporary jobs.

However, as with Oxfam, such allegations did not particularly affect Save the Children's operations.
