In January 2016, Servers.com announced its entry into the Russian market and the opening of its first data center here. He will work in Russia under the brand Servers.ru. Based on the new data center, the company offers Russian consumers the power of dedicated servers and cloud processing and storage services.

The uniqueness of our offer for the Russian market is that we provide connections with a bandwidth of up to 1 GB for free for each server without traffic restrictions. With such a proposal, many years of experience in building relations with providers allowed us to enter the Russian market, "says Servers.com CEO Alexei Gubarev. - Also, only we give a total speed of up to 40 Gbps in Russia.

Gubarev told TAdviser that at the time of launch the Servers.ru has 20 racks with 500 servers, which is 20% of the planned download of the data center. The company intends to increase its server fleet as demand increases. When the free square is over, Servers.ru plans to launch a second site, as, for example, it did in the United States. All data centers of the company have one configuration, regardless of where they are, Gubarev added.

The data center was deployed with the participation of specialists from the Unified Network, which the Servers.com acquired in 2015, but at a site that is not technologically related to the existing sites of this company. The site for the data center is Servers.ru rented from DataPro, Alexey Gubarev told TAdviser.

The Moscow Servers.ru Data Center has Tier III certificates for design documentation and a built facility and guarantees 99.997% availability. The data center also meets the international requirements of ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 27001:2013 certification. This allows you to store in it, including the data of financial organizations.

In Russia, Servers.ru have two categories of clients: global companies that want to be closer to their customers here, and Russian companies that are attracted by the opportunities for partnership with an international hoster, said Alexey Gubarev in a conversation with TAdviser. So far, both of these groups are moving their capacities to the Russian data center Servers.ru. At the global level, Nival and Social Quantum, the advertising company CityAds and Datacentric Alliance, whose activities are associated with Big Data, cite the example of customers in the Servers.com.

For Russian consumers, payment for the use of facilities located around the world and combined into a single non-tariff network will be made in rubles.

The opening of the data center in Russia was planned at the design stage Servers.com. The adoption of the law "On the Protection of Personal Data" forced us to speed up this process. The Russian market is 147 million potential customers. It is developing dynamically and attracts close attention of the largest Internet companies. For example, Russia is the second largest market for the largest gaming platform Steam. Moreover, the Russian IT-Business is also actively going west and needs reliable international partners, "Alexey Gubarev told TAdviser.

Initial investments in equipment for the launch of the data center amounted to $1.5 million. The CEO of Servers.ru told TAdviser that investments were made at different times and at different rates, but the indicated amount is relevant in terms of rubles at the end of January 2016. Most of the equipment was purchased directly from foreign partners.

After entering the Russian market, Servers.com plans to increase its presence in Dallas and launch a segment in Singapore.

2015: Acquisition of United Network

In August 2015, XBT Holding, represented by the hosting provider Servers.com announced[2] to acquire the United Network hoster in order to launch local versions of its services in compliance with Russian legislation. The transaction amount amounted to $800 thousand.

2013: Creating a Company

Alexey Gubarev told TAdviser that the idea to create a company Servers.com appeared in XBT Holding for several reasons. First, the market requires new approaches - the convenience and ease of use of the cloud should be combined with the capabilities, efficiency and efficiency of dedicated servers, he says. In addition, modern architectures - microservices, containers - what is commonly called the devops approach - impose certain requirements on the network. In particular, the network should be fast, traffic between different data centers should pass with minimal delay and at the same time not too expensive (Servers.com managed to make it free), and at the same time the network should be very reliably protected.

We just had to release a product that meets these challenges, "Gubarev said.

Secondly, the holding accumulated a fairly large amount of expertise in the field of hosting, which required the product to reach a new level of quality. Having ten years of experience in providing services, operating more than 20 thousand servers, the company would have missed the opportunity if it had not used this experience to create a qualitatively new product, says Alexey Gubarev.

At the end of 2013, according to Gubarev, the company began to discuss the idea of a product that should be delivered to the Servers.com market, in December began to implement it, in June 2014 launched the first segment in Amsterdam, in July - in Dallas, in December expanded to Luxembourg, and at the end of January 2016 - came to Moscow.
