In July 2014, it became known that the Shokoladnitsa coffee chain was close to buying the Coffee House chain, Kommersant reports, citing sources on the market. According to the publication, the deal is in a high stage of readiness, and after its completion, Shokoladnitsa will occupy coffee shops operating under the Coffee House brand[2], which[2] the[2]

Coffee House establishments operate not only in Moscow, but also in St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Kyiv and Donetsk. In total, as of July 2014, 226 coffee shops operate within the network. According to Mikhail Burmistrov, CEO of INFOLine-Analyst, Coffee House's share in the Moscow coffee shop market (including the region) is 5%, in St. Petersburg - 8%.

The capacity of the market for coffee shops in Moscow and nearby areas of the Moscow region in monetary terms is estimated at $2 billion. However, the popularity of coffee shops has been declining recently, by the end of the first quarter of 2014 they were bypassed not only by fast food restaurants, but also by sushi bars and pizzerias.

Analysts suggest that part of the Coffee House outlets located next to the operating Shokoladnitsy cafe may be reoriented to serving other brands. The owner of Shokoladnitsa, Alexander Kolobov, also controls the Wabi-Sabi sushi cafe chain (about 30 in Moscow and the regions) and is engaged in Israeli Max Brenner chocolate bars and Burger King eateries (more than 170 outlets in Russia) in partnership with VTB Capital.
