2021: Hologic purchased Somatex Medical Technologies
At the beginning of January, 2021 Hologic purchased Somatex Medical Technologies company which specializes in markers of sections of a biopsy and technologies of localization. Acquisition is estimated approximately at $64 million and includes the line of fabric markers Somatex Tumark concerning which Hologic already acted as the distributor in the USA.
Somatex belonged to E-Med Solutions, the group of investors from Berlin headed by the German private investment company Westlake Partners earlier. Hologic expects that acquisition will bring about $13 million income next year. The transaction will expand Hologic product portfolio in the market of medical researches of a mammary gland and also will strengthen Hologic positions in Europe, including due to expansion of forward channels of sale in Germany.

Somatex specializes in development and production of minimum invasive devices in the field of diagnosis of tumors, a biopsy and intervention interventions. The managing director of Somatex Joerg Heise considers that the transaction with Hologic and expansion of network of sales of products will allow developers to bring quicker the inventions to the market and to provide broad access to these innovative technologies which help with early detection and cancer therapy of a breast.[1]
