2020: The investment attraction, assessment in $2 billion
At the beginning of December, 2020 the developer of the application for meditation, a dream and a relaxation of Calm attracted new investments and were is estimated at $2 billion. Goldman Sachs Group, Lightspeed Venture Partners, TPG and Insight Partners acted as the main investors.
The cofounder and the CEO of the company Alex Tew noted that the increased interest in a startup is connected with concern and depressive episodes which covered many people during COVID-19 pandemic. Many corporations decided to purchase a subscription to alleviate the burden of the workers, and now access to the Calm application was got by card owners of American Express and also more than 12 million participants serviced by medical company Kaiser Permanente. Calm startup also attracted 4 million signed individual clients who made already more than 100 million loadings.
In a final round of financing the company collected additional $75 million. In addition to creation and acquisition of new content, Calm hopes to use the received means for strengthening and growth of the company at the expense of the conclusion of new transactions. According to PitchBook, the company which is earlier estimated at $1 billion already attracted $217 million and practically doubled the cost.
We are interested in acquisition of other enterprises and development of the company due to merges and absorption, - the cofounder and CEO Michael Acton Smith told, having refused to report details. He only noted that the company already cooperates with the singer Harry Stiles, the actor Mathew Makkonakhi and the musician Moby and is going and to conclude bargains with new talents further. Besides, in the application content in Japanese in addition to six already available will appear soon: English, German, French, Spanish, Korean and Portuguese.[1] |
