2024: The surgeon performed the operation 9,000 km away with a gamepad from the game console
In mid-September 2024, it became known that researchers from the robotics center in Switzerland were able to successfully conduct remote endoscopy at a distance of 9300 km using a gamepad from the game console. The study was conducted as part of a collaboration between the University of China (CUHK) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich. Read more here

Developing an implant that turns excess blood glucose into electricity
On March 28, 2023, researchers from the Swiss Higher Technical School of Zurich (ETH Zurich) reported the development of an implantable fuel cell that converts excess blood glucose into electricity. In combination with artificial insulin-releasing beta cells, a system can be created to autonomously maintain the required blood sugar levels in people with type 1 diabetes. Read more here.
Successful testing of universal cancer immunotherapy
On March 16, 2023, researchers from the Swiss Higher Technical School of Zurich reported successful testing of a method for universal cancer immunotherapy. The new technology is expected to allow any donor's cells to be injected into any patient, which will help improve the effectiveness of the fight against malignancies. Read more here.
