History
2021: JPMorgan bought The Infatuation
In mid-September 2021, JPMorgan agreed to purchase the restaurant platform The Infection, which owns the Zagat brand of guides and reviews.
The acquisition will not be directly related to banking activities. Because of its size, the country's largest bank does not have the right to acquire American deposit institutions. However, this does not prevent CEO Jamie Dimon from looking at related businesses.
By acquiring The Infatuation, JPMorgan aims to expand the culinary benefits for its credit card holders. The terms of the transaction and the proposed terms of its closure were not disclosed.
We have long admired The Infatuation's fresh approach to engaging people with accessible content that inspires new ways of knowing life through food and drink, whether on a nearby street or around the world. We look forward to developing our complementary missions to bring together people with experience around a common passion for lunch, "said Marianne Lake, co-head of the bank's consumer and population division, in a press release. |
Earlier, the bank launched Chase Dining, a new reward program for Sapphire cardholders and other selected cards. Customers can book tables through the web portal and use their bonus points to pay for purchases at restaurants.
The Infatuation will function as an independent brand within JPMorgan after the close of the deal, and the CEO of the restaurant platform Chris Stang, will continue to lead his team.[1]
