2016: Business Transformation Completed

On July 22, 2016, the Russian representative office of Toshiba announced the completion of business transformation in Russia.

As a result of the reorganization, the local office begins to engage in industrial projects - to develop work on existing projects and "bring" fresh companies from the global business portfolio to Russia. At the same time, Toshiba will continue to supply consumer electronics (hard drives, memory cards, MFPs), POS equipment, climatic and other equipment to Russia through distributors.

Following the company's global restructuring course, we launched all necessary processes in early 2014. Now the changes have been completed, and they are already giving their positive results. If earlier 99% revenue was brought by sales of consumer electronics, then by the end of 2015, industrial areas, including energy systems and social infrastructure products, brought 90% revenue. Our long-term goal is to expand the local business portfolio of infrastructure projects, making available to Russia about 60% more solutions from the company's global business portfolio.

Closure of consumer business in Russia. Focus on B2B

On December 14, 2015, it became known that Toshiba decided to leave only corporate business in Russia. Sales of TVs and kitchen appliances, which were handled by the Toshiba Si-Ai-Es division, were curtailed.

As the general director of Toshiba Rus LLC Hiroaki Tezuka told Kommersant, the company completed the restructuring of its activities in Russia, as a result of which Toshiba completely left the consumer market of the Russian Federation. The corporation shipped the latest audio and video equipment, refrigerators and other kitchen electronics to distributors and retail chains back in December 2014, the top manager said.

Toshiba stopped selling TVs in Russia

According to him, Toshiba was hard to work in the Russian TV market, 70% of which is controlled by South Korean competitors Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics. Hiroaki Tezuka estimates Toshiba's share at 10% in 2012-2013.

After the liquidation of Toshiba Si-Ai-Es, the company will have only one division in Russia - Toshiba Rus LLC, which is engaged in b2b contracts. Toshiba Rus has agreements with Russian Post, Sberbank and Power Machines. In addition, according to the head of the PR & New Business department of Toshib Rus Vladimir Maksimov, the company is also negotiating new projects in the field of agricultural industry and power in the Moscow region and Mordovia.

Investing in a new business in Russia has become more difficult, admits Hiroaki Tezuka.

"The management of the corporation reads negative news from the Russian Federation, so it is very difficult to convince them to invest," he said.

Delivery of equipment to Rosseti

At the end of 2015, Toshiba Rus is implementing the project together with PJSC Rosseti. Cooperation with Russian power engineers is aimed at the development of domestic electrical production and the introduction of high-quality power equipment in the Russian energy industry. As part of this project, Toshiba takes part in the creation of the Federal Test Complex, on the basis of which research and design work will be carried out. The specialists of the Japanese company will provide their production space for research and share their accumulated experience.

Equipment supplies to the Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov

In September 2015, on the basis of the First Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov, the grand opening of the "Russian-Japanese Scientific and Educational Center for Heart Imaging," equipped with Toshiba equipment, took place. For patients, this center opens up unique diagnostic and treatment opportunities, and students and residents will be able to study and conduct research on medical equipment.

2014: Project with Russian Post at the logistics center in Vnukovo

Since 2014, Toshiba has been cooperating with FSUE Russian Post as part of a project to develop a logistics center in Vnukovo. The goal of the project is to automate mail processing processes, which will increase the production capacity of the center and speed up the passage of mail. Toshiba will equip the logistics center with modern mail sorting, exchange and transportation systems.

2011: Consumer Electronics Group Formation

On November 9, 2011, it became known that in accordance with the strategy announced by Toshiba Corporation in the spring of 2011, the company continues to combine the businesses for the production and sale of television and computer equipment as part of a new combined structure - Digital Products & Service Company.

The purpose of this reorganization is to optimize the business structure in the field of digital consumer products to increase the speed and consistency of the company's actions, as well as to promote the creation of new unique products based on the merger of digital products and technologies.

Special emphasis within the framework of the new structure is placed on the expansion of business in emerging markets, to which the company also includes Russia with other CIS countries. Integration began in the spring of 2011 from its headquarters in Japan, and on November 1, 2011, the company announced a corresponding reorganization within the Russian branch of the company - Toshiba CIS.

The consumer electronics group was headed by Mikhail Noskov, who has been working at the company for more than 10 years and has so far led the television engineering business. Snytko Igor, who headed the computer engineering division, after the integration is completed, will apply professional experience outside Toshiba.

The company has created a group of consumer electronics, uniting in its structure businesses for the sale of television and computer equipment, as well as household appliances Toshiba. Previously, the allocated product divisions were responsible for individual product groups, while the new organization implemented a functional structure, identified multi-product divisions of sales, marketing, business planning and service.

This solution is largely due to the development of digital convergence, the convergence (and often intersection) of product distribution channels and the competitive requirements of the local market.

The company expects that this reorganization will allow it to better and more quickly respond to the needs of the dynamically developing consumer electronics market, be more competitive and further strengthen the position of the Toshiba brand in the market of Russia and the CIS countries. This will provide an opportunity to make products more attractive to end users, and will also help improve interaction with company partners in the local market.

2003: Toshiba Digital Media Network CIS opens
