2024: Akron Holding bought Transcat
On January 30, 2024, it became known that the Akron Holding enterprise from the city of Togliatti, Samara Region, entered into an agreement on the acquisition of the St. Petersburg metallurgical plant Transkat. There is no information on the amount of the transaction as of the specified date.
Transkat JSC was established in 1995 at the initiative of the Ministry of Railways of the Russian Federation and the All-Russian Research Institute of Railway Transport. The assortment of the plant includes copper, oxygen-free, alloyed wire rod; fused copper, low-alloy and bronze contact wires; copper, low-alloy and bronze wire. The company supplies products to the largest cable factories in Russia and the CIS countries, and more than 70% of products are exported to countries near and far abroad. In addition, as noted, the plant produces contact wires for high-speed traffic of the Russian Railway, which have no analogues.
The Kommersant newspaper reports that the owner of the Transkat enterprise is FIC Rail-Invest LLC. At the end of 2023, this company, previously owned by Akvilla LLC, came under the control of the Togliatti Akron Industry JSC (99.99%) and businessman Pavel Morozov (0.01%).
In turn, Akron Holding is one of the largest vertically integrated full-cycle industrial and metallurgical holdings in Russia. The company is engaged in the procurement and processing of scrap of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in the Russian Federation and the CIS countries, as well as the production of non-ferrous metallurgy and cable-conductor products. The holding's structure includes 27 production and 13 scrap processing sites. The total staff at the beginning of 2024 exceeds 16 thousand employees.[1]
