2024: Businessman Alexander Udodov bought Transchem
At the end of September 2024, it became known about the acquisition by Alexander Udodov, the former son-in-law of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, of Transchem, a manufacturer of disinfectants in the Tula region. The deal to buy 100% of Transchem LLC's shares was carried out through Optima Invest LLC controlled by Udodov at the end of August 2024.
According to Kommersant, Transchem LLC was founded in the summer of 2020 against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. The company concluded an agreement with the authorities of the Tula region on the location of production in the city of Suvorov with a planned capacity of up to 90 thousand tons of products per year. Investments in the project were estimated at ₽400 million.
The company began work in March 2021, initially participating in government procurement for the supply of disinfectants for the prevention of COVID-19.
At the time of acquisition by Alexander Udodov, Transchem produced six product lines, including skin antiseptics and means for disinfecting medical instruments and household items. Before the transaction, the beneficiary of the company through Desimpex LLC was producer Alexander Dostman, known as the head of the Artes cultural charitable foundation.
Alexander Udodov is a former top manager of the Itera gas company, where he served as vice president from 2010 to 2014. By October 2024, he is a co-owner of the largest enterprise in Russia for the production of champignons - the Mushroom Rainbow company.
According to the analytical company DSM Group, in January-July 2024, sales of antiseptic drugs in pharmacy chains reached 110.7 million packages, a decrease of 9.1% compared to the same period in 2023. Despite this, experts note that the antiseptic market in medicine remains a stable segment with constant demand.[1]
