2025: $3,000 Presentation for the Production of Realistic Sex Robots
In early July 2025, the Chinese company WMdoll, based in the city of Zhongshan in southern Guangdong province, showed the production of realistic sex robots. Equipped with artificial intelligence, these dolls are offered at an estimated price of $3,000.
The devices are made on the basis of a metal frame that performs the functions of a skeleton: on top of it is "synthetic flesh." The leather is made of silicone or similar material, making it feel as realistic as possible. WMDoll produces dolls with different "personalities" and different looks. Customers can choose skin and hair color, height, body parameters, etc. The company claims US customers prefer dolls with darker skin, bigger buttocks and breasts. In the Asia-Pacific region, products with facial features characteristic of these places are in demand.
The AI system responsible for emotions and dialogue is based on a cloud platform. Sex robots send information for processing to the cloud, where a large language model (LLM) is used. Instructions generated from the received data are returned back as control commands or phrases. Dolls, for example, can continue a conversation that began a few days earlier. Robots are able to ask questions about "relationships" with a human partner, as well as their mutual feelings.
WMDoll believes that sales of sex dolls in 2025 will rise by 30%. Part of the increase in interest is due to the improved "user experience" that is achieved through AI tools. As WMdoll founder and CEO Liu Jiangxia notes, the use of neural networks makes dolls "more responsive and interactive," which provides better interaction.[1]
2018: Men don't buy sex dolls with intelligence
At the end of July 2018, it became known about the weak demand for sex dolls with artificial intelligence. Adult toy makers, however, continue to refine their devices, making them increasingly human-like.
The largest sex doll manufacturer in China, WMDOLL, sells about 20,000 such products a year, and the number of AI models sold has amounted to just over 20 since they entered the market at the end of 2016. Low sales of sex robots are largely due to their high cost (in China, WMDOLL offers them at prices ranging from $1,470 to $7350) and underdeveloped intellectual functions. Read more here.
