2021: Sale of Israeli business to Yandex

On October 12, 2021, it became known about the sale of the Israeli business Wind Mobility to Yandex. The perimeter of the transaction included scooters, which are available for ordering to users, software, in-house production, as well as a research center in China.

As the representative of Yandex specified to Vedomosti, the company acquired 4,500 Wind scooters, on which about 660 thousand trips are made in Israel every month. The service is available in Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, Givataim, Holon, Bat Yam, Givat Shmuel, Kiryat Ono, Ashdod and Petah Tikva.

Yandex bought the Israeli car rental service Wind

Yandex and Wind want to close the deal by the end of 2021. Its financial side is not disclosed. After all the formalities are completed, Wind employees will become part of the Yandex international business team - Yango. In addition, a rebranding will be carried out, within the framework of which the company will be renamed Yango Wind. The combined company will be headed by the former deputy general director of Yandex Yuval Keynan.

By mid-October 2021, Israel already has a Yandex taxi ordering service - Yango, as well as food delivery services operating under the Deli brand. In Israel, scooter rental will be available in both Yango Wind and the Yango super application.

Having entered the Israeli market for the rental of electric scooters, Yandex will have to compete with such large market participants as Lime and Bird. At the same time, Yandex itself has been developing this business only since July 2021: first, the kicksharing service began to work in Moscow, and later in Krasnodar.[1]
