2021: Walmart bought Zeekit
In mid-May 2021, Walmart announced the purchase of Zeekit's virtual clothing fitting service. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
In a message published on the company's official website, Walmart's executive vice president of clothing and private brands in the United States, Denise Incandela, said that customers will be able to use Zeekit functionality to sample products of private Walmart brands and national brands such as Free People, Champion and Levi Strauss.
After integrating the Zeekit solution with the Walmart platform, users will be able to choose their own clothes by using their own photos or suggested images of models that reflect the growth, physique and skin tint of users. The service allows you to share the result of the fitting with other users, which in the end can play a decisive role in the purchase of a particular product.
By purchasing a startup, Walmart hopes to improve customer service and make online purchases more social, Incandela said.
Virtual fitting changes the rules of the game and solves what has historically been one of the most difficult tasks for playback on the Internet - understanding compliance and how the subject will actually look at you, "Incandela explained. - Zeekit will help us provide an inclusive, exciting and personalized experience for our diverse customer base. |
As part of the deal, the startup team and three founders, CEO Yael Wiesel, technical director Alon Crystal and vice president of research and development Nir Appleboy, will join Walmart.[1]
