Main events of week on February 4-10

During a week from February 4 to February 10 events in the Russian IT market will twirl quicker and quicker: we will celebrate the Day of science and also 175 years from the moment of the invention of the Morse alphabet. In Moscow there will pass "Infoforum-2013", and the birthdays will be celebrated by Natalya Kasperskaya, Alexander Galitsky and other outstanding figures of the industry.

February 4: birthday of Ken Thompson

This day Ken Thompson, the engineer, the programmer was born. It is known as the person who jointly Denis Ritchey made a huge contribution to formation of the Si programming language and development of the UNIX operating system.


Also on Monday in Moscow the multi-day International Logistic Forum (MMLF-2013) starts. The forum became the traditional place of an annual meeting of professionals in the field of logistics, supply chain management, transportation, warehousing, distribution, information technologies and also owners and top managers of the companies.

One more birthday boy of day -Vyacheslav Volodin, the First Deputy Chief of the Russian President's Executive Office.

Also on February 4 the birth Vladimir Matiukhin, the deputy director general of NIIAS celebrates Institute of informatization, automation and communication on railway transport, the ex-head of the Federal agency on information technologies (FAIT).

In 2004 this day the Facebook company controlling the world's largest social network of the same name was founded. Emergence of Facebook provoked this boom of social networks which had an impact not only on all of IT the industry, but also life of most of people on Earth. Still its founder Mark Zuckerberg owns a third of stocks of the companies, also securities belong to DST Global, Mail.ru Group and Microsoft.

February 5: Birthday of Natalya Kasperskaya

On February 5 Natalya Kasperskaya, the head of InfoWatch company and also the chairman of the board of directors of Kaspersky Lab, the former head of Laboratory and the ex-spouse of its founder Evgeny Kaspersky was born.

In one of conversations Evgeny Kaspersky, noticed that Natalya's biography — as if the road to the embodiment of "the American dream". Today Natalya Kasperskaya is one of the most influential women in Russian IT of the industry.

On February 5-6 in Moscow the forum of information security "Infoforum-2013" will take place.

This day Anatoly Ponomarev, the vice chairman of the board Sberbank of the Russian Federation (Kazakhstan) was born.

February 6

EMC will provide on February 6, 2013 RSA Security Analytics – a new solution from RSA, division of security of corporation. RSA Security Analytics, the security technology of new generation, uses analytics of Big Data and intellectual methods of detection of threats, reducing time and costs for their identification and elimination.

February 7

On Thursday the West Concept holding invites to participate in the webinar devoted to application of ERP systems in the investment and construction organizations.

On February 7 in Rostov-on-Don there will take place the conference "Around DPC. Around a cloud".

In the same day the conference "IT in retail will take place: new requests are new solutions", but already in Moscow. According to IDC, the IT market in retail in the next years will remain to some of the most fast-growing. Rates of its growth will be more than 17% a year that is 6% higher than an average value of increase in expenses on IT in the country.

On February 7-8 the partner conference Nicotech will take place.

February 8: Day of Russian Science

February 8 - Day of Russian Science. This day in 1724 (on January 28 on old style) the decree of the Senate according to Peter I's order in Russia founded Academy of Sciences. In 1925 it was renamed into Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and in 1991 - into the Russian Academy of Sciences.

It is interesting that on February 8, 1838 - 175 years ago - Samuel Morse for the first time publicly showed the system of electromagnetic telegraph. Morse, the American artist, returning from Europe, from the fellow traveler by the ship learned about impact of current on a magnet and about its capability instantly to pass on a long wire. The artist lit up the idea to apply electromagnetism to signal transmission. Its works were crowned with success. In 1837 it for the first time showed telegraph on specially mounted line of 500 meters. The transferred and accepted telegram was not readable. Then Morse less than for half a year thought up the code of the transmitted signals in the form of a combination long and short. Combinations of points and a dash made the well-known Morse alphabet.

On February 8 German Gref, in the past one of the most noticeable Russian politicians, the member of the government of the Russian Federation, at the moment – the president of Sberbank of the Russian Federation was born.

On February 8 107 years since the birth of now deceased Chester Carlson, the American physicist, a zobretatel of the principle of electrography or a xerography are performed. In production of this principle he fought for implementation for many years as businessmen from General Electric, IBM and officials from U.S. Army refused to invest money in this project.

February 9: Birthday of Alexander Galitsky

On February 9 Alexander Galitsky, the founder of Almaz Capital Partners, the member of the supervisory board of Parallels and PGP Inc was born. More than 17 years is the CEO and the president of Elvis + company. Also the Founder and the head of the technology companies among which there are Elvis Telecom, EzWIM, S-Terra, TrustWorks Systems (Synatra), the investor and the adviser of such companies as SWSoft, Acronis, Start Telecom, NavMaps, UMX, Magnifire, etc.


Also on February 9 also Kumar Malavalli, the famous American entrepreneur of the Indian origin was born. One of pioneers in development of revolutionary Fibre Channel technology, in many respects thanks to which arose the multi-billion market of the storage area networks (SAN). Co-founder and ex-technical director of the company of Brocade.

In 2011 this day official opening of the "Club of Chief Information Officers in a Car Business" organization took place.

February 10

On February 10 Anna Katamadze, the vice president the Universal Electronic Card (UEC) was born.

Also this day Oleg Neretin, the Chief information officer of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation was born.
