The cloud market of Russia made $35 million

The market of cloud services in Russia, both public, and private, last year reached a mark of $35 million. It is a little, but in the near future it will grow more than for 100% a year and in 2015 will pass for a mark of $1.2 billion.

Russia released IDC the report on the market of cloud services in Russia – Russia Cloud Services Market 2011–2015 Forecast and 2010 Competitive Analysis. Unlike a last year's research in which only digits on the market of public clouds were specified this report includes also market research of private clouds.

The volume of the Russian market of cloud services (public and private) in 2010 was $35.08 million. Let's remind that in the previous research IDC estimated the size of the market of cloud services in 2009 in Russia at $4.8 million.

This market is small now, but its expected growth rates should exceed significantly similar indicators on all market of IT services in 2011-2015, the study says Software to forecasts of IDC, by the end of 2015 the volume of the Russian market of cloud services will exceed a mark of $1.2 billion, showing annual average growth rate more than 100%.

In 2010 the size of the market of public cloud services in Russia was $13 million (of them project services − 38%) whereas the size of the market of private cloud services reached $22.08 million (of them project services − 73%).

Among products based on which the most popular in Russia of solution SaaS were constructed products of the companies are mentioned Microsoft Salesforce.com, Google and Oracle. Among the largest distributors providers the Russian companies CT Consulting Softline, "Megaplan", "Technoserv Consulting" are mentioned. "As resale of services – the simplest segment of the market probably and in a cash equivalent it is the most significant. However, I want to emphasize that the intellectual contribution to development of the Russian market from the Russian providers who provide these services does not occur", - TAdviser ' Ruslan Zayedinov', the deputy director general "Croc" commented.

Among the most successful suppliers of IaaS-solutions in the report such companies as Parking.ru,Oversun Scalaxy, IT Grad and Softline are called. The list of the leading service providers on provision of services of a private cloud was headed by HP, IBM, CROC, I-Teco and Asteros.

According to the analyst of IDC Alexander Prokhorov, cloud computing becomes more and more usual rule of consumption of IT in Russia, the number of suppliers of this sort of services grows. "The accurate tendency to convergence of IT and telecommunications is visible, the interest of the largest telecom operators in market penetration of cloud services in Russia is obvious. To be competitive in the market of cloud computing, the IT companies should develop accurate strategy for providing both operational cloud services, and professional project services on their implementation", - the expert commented.

As Mikhail Ehrenburg commented on TAdviser, the president of the Asteros group, by own estimates of the company, the market of cloud services did not grow to those volumes about which tell IDC. In 2009 its volume was estimated by analysts of the same agency at $4.8 million. "It turns out that "cloud" services grew more than by 7 times! Even for the most fast-growing markets it is fantastic growth. So the appreciation of the market can be explained only with the fact that services which move under the guise of "cloud" also went to its offset, but it is not net cloud", - he said.

As for significant growth in "cloud services" by 2015, "the market really gains steam, the number of projects and their scale increases. In this respect the Russian market follows global trends. The predicted grandiose growth rates, but not prospects of the market raise doubts", - the expert added.

Ruslan Zayedinov said that he in general agrees with data of IDC. According to him, recently interest in cloud computing, at last, began to pass gradually from theoretical into the practical plane, the first projects appeared. "The first real results of use of "clouds" will contribute to dynamic market development. We see it on own example. As soon as we opened a demo access to "cloud", and customers felt convenience of cloud approach, the number of commercial projects increased", - the representative told Croc.

As for income distribution by public and private sectors, Ruslan Zayetdinov says, outputs are right, only if to rely on the terminology given in the previous report version and as "cloud" to consider IT as service in general. "If to consider modern understanding of "clouds" when it is about the automated service with a self-service portal through which each user has an opportunity to select to himself necessary resources, and to be calculated for them according to a certain scheme at the central office, then the market looks essentially differently. The ratio is rather 100% to zero for benefit of public", - he concluded.
